Title: Series I #78 1123
Post by: navbass on September 23, 2007, 11:33:14 AM
Just got it, sounds amazing, plays great.  At some point someone moved the pick-up selector down to where the rest of the knobs are and covered up the old hole with a brass plate and LED.  It has a black plastic nut, does anybody know whats up with that?   I thought all Alembics had brass nuts.

Most Alembics do have brass nuts. I would guess someone replaced it at some time. Are you sure it is plastic and not ebony?

Hey Richard,

That is a sweet bass, congratulations!

Could it be a graphite or teflon nut such as a  graph-tech (http://www.graphtech.com/prodtrem.htm target=_blank)?

Don't hesitate to post bigger pictures. I would be interested in seeing the mods close up.

Nice bass. It's a very similar top to georgie Boy's.

Graeme, Richard's top has hair on it.  (sorry George, I couldn't stop myself)  It is a beautiful instrument. I like the look of zebrawood a lot.  This one has the same grain angles as my Epic.

Looks great, thanks for sharing... no wonder you have CTS!  What's the scale length... medium?

It's a long scale.  Seems Huge compared to my medium scale Elan.  I have to wear my strap a little looser with the Series I or it feels like I have trouble reaching the 1st fret.  Still very comfortable to play, just different.

Very nice. What year is it ? It looks like a 1979/1980 production.

Very very very cool.  The tone is supple yet firm...played with pinache!

Thanks for the link.
