I have serial number 459, which is also a San Francisco build, but it has the LED.

I bet it goes great with the guitar!

Thanks for the link.

They had a smooth red cap that was super-glued onto the main body of the knob.

Now I know how to fix the problem of the caps falling out! Super glue ... who'da thunk it!

Post by: dela217 on March 12, 2008, 04:27:42 PM: From what I understand, I have one of the first ones. It was made in a batch of 10 or so. It was an F2 before they made the stereo model, the F2B. Mine has the serial number of 102, was all hand made and hand labeled with transfer decals. The thing isn't even rack mountable.

Is it possible that the first run started with a serial number of 100? Then the F2B had their own set of serial numbers? Dunno. Lot of foggy history there. I would think that first batch of F2's would be the ones from '69. Just guessing of course.

I called Alembic yesterday on this, and they just said that instruments had one set of serial numbers (guitars/basses) and electronics/rackmounts (F2B, etc) had a different set. If that is the case, our units are 3 units apart, but sounds like very different builds...

I'm gonna open mine now to see if there is a date in it on the board someplace.
