Very cool, Mike. When and where did you score this beauty? Love the brown pickups.

Ok, I've come around, Outstanding...

yeah that's some guitar. It reminds me of Stanley's Brown Bass.
Have you had it refinished at Alembic HQ?
What's the wood recipe?. The core doesn't look dark enough to be mahogany.
I can also see why some people have been keen to have different coloured pickup covers available as an option. Although I'm happy with black covers I don't think black would look as impressive on this specific guitar.

Wow, this is sweet.

I can\t believe that\s a 1975...It looks new to me too. Control layout and brown pickup covers are just too cool!
-
Thanks guys!!
FYI, this is what a few years of R&R back in Santa Rosa can do for your Alembic..... I call it Mothership Rejuvenation!!!!
Jazzy; the wood recipe is walnut/myrtle/walnut on the wings, and walnut & maple for the neck.... The ebony fingerboard is set on a veneer of maple, which looks super-bad-ass w/ the refinish... Ron felt that replacing the original carmel pups was the main fix for 137's electronics qualms, and the new pup's color compliments the walnut and myrtle perfectly.
I'm waiting for a rackmount supply to arrive before I integrate this guitar into my main rig, but so far from the stereo jack into a Pro-Junior and Crate VC508, this guitar has some serious vibe. It contradicts anything and everything you may have heard about Alembic guitar electronics being sterile or too hi-fi.....

That is some nice walnut. I also like the way the pickups go with the the top wood.

Wow !
This is a great example of 1975 Brown series instruments that the serial numbers are around 140 also my 145, Todd's 147, Thomas's 150.
Especially the back laminate of the head are obtuse angle.
But I have never seen Brown small body guitar except 1974's.
By the way, the tailpiece is replaced, isn't it ?
It looks like all brass parts. (originally brass plate with wood base)

You are correct about the new bird, Eiji.
You received 145 around the same time I got 137, and ever since I've noticed a lot of similarities about this run of instruments. Todd mentioned that 74 or 75 Flamed Maple is possibly one serial # away from 137 as well...
I'm guessing that LD Heater's purchase orders at this time were aiming for a standardized or uniform set of options.

Man this guitar is Cleaner than the Board of Health!!!

Mike,
Absolutely spectacular to behold. I remember when we met, you told me about your wait. I love the green pickups! Hoping we can jam together again soon. I've just hooked up with a rockabilly industry guy in NYC and will be starting a new project with him. Would love to hear you play some pedal steel again and play your gorgeous early Alembic. Congrats, Todd

Beautiful, really beautiful Pace. Congrats and good luck. Bring it to the next gathering. Which would be......?

Wow! I'm gone for the weekend and Mike showers us with retro goodness. I love the brown p-ups, and overall she's a 10!

OK, so yesterday I got a chance to sit down with Tom Chapin (Harry's brother). The guitar was originally registered to him, and I figured this would be a nice reunion which would provide some historical antidotes.... Unfortunately this wasn't the case. As soon as I opened up the case Tom seemed to think that this guitar belonged to Doug Walker (Harry's guitarist). Tom played it for a quick second and said I don't remember ever owning an Alembic, because if I did, I surely would've kept it .... So.... the plot thickens.
