Hi, just bought from a swiss man this 1999 very very nice and nice sounding 5 strings bass.
The owner of this bass was particularly attentive (obsessionnal!) and this bass is brand new now !!

PierreYves, that is such a beautiful bass, the maple top wood is very similar to my own series I bass. Your growing collection is absolutely superb. Contratulations again on your exquisite taste.

Wow!! How do you FIND these things?? Beautiful!
-
Magnificent!
You'll love the Europa body shape - it's very comfortable.
Is the hardware chrome or nickel finish?
-
Beautiful bass!!! I especially like the light fixture in the brass back plate :>) Now that is shiny, just like a mirror.
-
That is a beautiful bass. I love that hint of quilt amongst the burl on the upper horn. Love the color as well. Very, very nice!!
-
This very instrument was a tremendous inspiration to me while designing my Coco Bolo Fantasy bass back in 2000....
-
at all: thanks :-)
the hardware is chrome and I found this bass to a swiss people who tried to sold this bass form 2-3 years ;-)
-
At this point, Pierre has to have the best Alembic collection in Europe.
[Edit: Or at least a tie with Jazzy and Flip.]

I would clearly put PierreYves ahead of the pack. I have lost count of the number of beautiful series basses he has at his disposal now.

All of the most beautiful basses end up with Pierreyves!
Congrats, that is truly a wondrous instrument! Happy New Year to you!
-
Magnifique!
-
Beautiful bass Pierreyves! How does the sound compare to your Stanley basses?
-
each bass have his own sound... to compare with blackwood, this one have a more deep and warm sound, something similar to koa.
-
It's good to have a variety of tones!
-
This bass is a beauty. However, I think Pierreyves is understating things when he states that he found this bass. Given all he now has in his collection, my personal theory is that just before the most beautiful basses that are headed for Europe leave Santa Rosa, someone slips a homing chip in to them so that, like Salmon, where ever they end up they all eventually migrate to the collection of Pierreyves.

Absolutely outstanding!!!!!
Can anybody tell me more about the burst feature. Is it a slightly more yellowish tint added to the edges giving it an aged patina?
-
Yes - this has a subtle burst finish. The burst is on the front of the body, back of the body, along the edges of the neck (you can see a dark stripe across the heel) as well as the front and back of the peghead.

As usual, Pierreyves, exquisite taste in axes. As for most of the coolest Alembics in Europe, I'd bet this was originally from Station Music. I don't know who orders their axes, but they always have the coolest, 'why didn't I think of that' Alembics.
Congrats !

This bass was ordered at his time by Ken Knewman, the swiss Alembic retailer. I bought this bass this winter after his owner try to sell from 3 years ;-)

I have one in the same wood and finish as this bass and mine had previously been on sale at station music for about a year before the seller withdrew it and I bought it from him directly which was a considerable saving. In fact the bass pierreyves has now was on sale at the same time and he spoke to the seller on my behalf as they had a common language. In the end I chose the one I have now and it's great that pierreyves has this bass. It's in good hands.
