Hi Brian

That's a very nice series II ! Congratulations.

Could you give u some additional info about the bass : year of birth, woods, options, ... etc.
I understand you bought it, from another club member, Geoff ?

Peace

Yes Jan, the bass was purchased from Geoff (gmt65)after a few hit and miss efforts to get in contact with one another. When we finally made the connection, it was remarkable to learn that we were both in the same tri-state area; MD, DC, VA.
Anyhow, the bass was built in 2001,options include Flame Walnut Superb top and back(continuos)Inlaid logo, Abalone oval inlays. I'll have to get the actual history from MICA, if possible. The serial number is 0112520 USA.

Hey Brian...looks good!  I knew that she was going to a good home!  She is a keeper.  Do you have enough stuff in your signal chain?

Thanks for the info on the cables.

Geoff

Hey Geoff, what about a F2-B? (ha, ha, ha) You are so right, this bass is definitely a KEEPER. The ZAOLLA is a good cable, I KNOW you will like it.
Keep in touch, Brian

That's one seriously gorgeous bass.  As you may know, I'm a BIG fan of dark woods.  My series II is in Burl Walnut.  I love the natural red and green highlights in the wood.  WOW!  I think I'm jealous!

Paul, I sorta have an idea of what your refering to, based on the picture in your profile. I can't wait to see a color photo of your series II, but from what I'm able to see thus far, your bass is gorgeous to say the least.

Hi Brian,

Very nice bass indeed. If I am not mistaken it was made for the 2001 NAMM, and a few weeks later it was offered for sale by Bass North West in Seattle. I was interested in buying it myself and saved the photos of the bass from their website. Unfortunately, it disappeared very quicly, before I could even think about it twice. The unique woodgrain but especially the lighter cross streaks on the front just under the hum cancelling block make this one fairly unmistakeble.

I am glad to see it has found a good home.

Cheers,

Peter Jonas

Jonas, it certainly looks the same. The only exception is that the filter, pickup volume knobs, and master volume knob are different. Hmmm... I prefer the knobs that are shown in your photograph which are identical to the knobs on my (2) previous signature model basses. Oh well, I can always replace them, right? Thanks for the photo and info

Is that a proto Balance K body?

Yes,it was the in between step.I believe the guy,for whom the Balance K is named after, had one,and then wanted another more slimmed down version for reduced weight. That bass was a COTM back around '02 or so which was the 1st Balance K.That being said,I've always liked the feel of larger bodied basses compared to the more compact versions.

Agreed. If you want to see another, check out the supreme walnut example on the home page, under wood samples. Also there is a lefty w/a pistol grip called Raging Bass, and one called Hot Lava in the COTM archives. The later has been slightly shaved down to be slimmer on the back end.All 3 are gorgeous!
