This will be live to the world in a little while, and just a touch earlier here on the Alembic Club. I hope you enjoy reading  Diamond-Eyed Jack (http://alembic.com/info/fc_dej.html) as much as we did building it. Enjoy!

This is a wonderful guitar.  We say that kind of thing often here, but I was really struck by this instrument.  I think the picture that really put the whole thing in focus for me was the one centered on the D.E. Jack nameplate inlay; that's when I realized that the whole guitar was just really wonderful.

Another grand slam home run by Alembic!  The purpleheart/ebony neck is a stunning combo.  And the fret markers are very unique and creative.  Love it!

:-D
Thank Mica!
The backside shows the unadulterated, pure, beauty of the fundamental being of the instrument.

The warm soft curves that call for a hand to caress them, leading ones eyes up to the pure gently tapered neck crowned with a regal shape. No distraction of strings and knobs, just beautifully shaped wood.

Everyone,

Thank you for the great comments and well wishes!  Also, a HUGE public thank you to everyone at Alembic for making this one-of-a-kind instrument for my family and I.

The journey has been wonderful, and it would have been a shame if I didn't document it? so I did.  I didn't want to forget the trip, so I decided to blog about it.  I first want to apologize to all of you in the Alembic community for limiting the blog to family and close friends.  Once it was clear that the guitar was going to get the FC treatment, a decision was made to keep the guitar under wraps until the big unveiling.

Now the shroud is lifted, and I'd like to present to you all the journey of Diamond-Eyed Jack!  For those that have gone through a custom build, I'm sure to be treading on familiar territory.  And even if you haven't chosen that particular road to get here, I'm confident you'll have a blast!

Please enjoy the read, comment if you are so inclined, and share with anyone you think would be interested!

I just love this guitar.  Now? about that East Coast gathering...

Just read your blogs about the build and your decisions along the way. Very interesting. Also some great stories and insight into the amazing family that crafts these incredible instruments for us to enjoy. Thanks for sharing.

When I had my Elan built, after talking thru it with Susan and Will Gunn (both the BEST!), I told Susan I wanted it tinted green 'about halfway between Hunter Green and a BP sign'.  No color swatches, nothing, just that idea.

I decided to not ever call them.  Just see it when it was done.  Without my knowledge, they shot it the first time, decided it wasn't what I implied, stripped it and started over, completely on their own.  When I got it about a year after order, yes, it was EXACTLY the color I had in mind.

THAT's Alembic.
