I've not heard of this guy before but he plays a mean series fretless.

Wow, this guy is a monster! Amazing that none of my Brazilian classmates at Berklee in the early 80s told me about him.

Nico is one of the greatest bass players we ever had here in Brazil...
If you check Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_Assump??o), you will see that he played with some of the best artists out there, both from Brazil and from the rest of the world.
It's sad that he had to go so early...
Edwin, that is weird. If you are a Brazilian bassist, you MUST know Nico...

Well, I'm not Brazilian, but at Berklee when I was there, there was a great Brazilian community (and probably still is). Pilar de Melo, a wonderful and beautiful singer, was my housemate for a while, so I got to hang and try to jam with a great assortment of fabulous musicians.
I'm bummed that I've just discovered him and he's gone already....

I did not know he used an Alembic in any given part of his life. That is awesome!
Indeed, it's sad he is gone already.
Check his other videos, you will not regret it. There is a lot of srutff to learn from him.
He is truly missed...
