Hey all!
I came across this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FRe4_7wTec&feature=fvwrel) on Youtube, where you can see explanations on Stanley's rig by the man himself. Pretty cool! I don't recall seeing it here on the forum, so check it out!

I agree, he's a phenomenal player. However, I have a good friend who just hates Stanley Clarke. So.... this week I had to do a photo shoot for her and I made the photo's up into a presentation DVD package and guess who's music i've included as the backdrop to the photo presentation.... :-) Yes Stanley Clarke I doubt if she will recognise him as it's his acoustic bass work. The conversion process has started. :-)

Yes, some people are not aware of all the great work Stanley has done in his life! If you do not like music where the bass is in a center roll that is fine, but in Stanley?s case there is so much more! First of all he is one of the greatest bass player of all time, great producer, great composer, great arranger and much more.
Great bass playing on a few of Paul McCartney albums (I thought that Paul has started to practice the bass when I did listen to the albums) great orchestrations on Michael Jacksons video and so many great movie soundtracks?? so there is so much more than the solo bass playing on his tenor bass that someone may not understand or like?? I love his tenor bass playing and the great sound he gets from his Alembics, just killer stuff!!

Hi Pierre-Yves! You have probably the best looking Alembic basses there is?and most likely sounding as well! I really love the recordings Stanley made in the early-70\s but I think he is at his best right now! Just improving all the time the latest CD with Hiromi is just killer!! ? and not to mention the amazing live sound!!!

Jan-Olof,
I have to agree with you about Stanley being at his best right now. I think playing with Hiromi and the other young folks in the Stanley Clarke Band has reinvigorated his playing and gotten him out of the rut he seemed to be in during the 90's and early 2000's.
