If you ever get a chance to see him play, no doubt you will leave inspired.

That's the attitude!
Alas, I think I will feel some frustration too!
-
Recently saw Trip in Denver. I don't know if he gets tired of the adjective awesome but it describes his performance and attitude to a T.
If you are out there, thanks again Trip!
-
apdavis from Denver I see. I am sitting at Broadway and C470 right now!
-
Where is that Denver photo taken? I am sorry I missed his appearance.

Don't miss a chance to see him live.

I borrowed without asking, the photo I posted from the Lodo bass bash, but Mica's contribution is better.
I had understood the scheduled clinics for the Bass Bash were to be Friday(4th) and Saturday(5th), with Trip playing Saturday night. It turns out he played Friday and Saturday night with a clinic on Sunday, which I had missed having made other plans.
Spit and other dirty words on that one. . .

Yeah Trip is phenominal. Great guy too.
-
That is a really big bass. Anybody know if it is strung B-Bb or F#-C?
-
Trip is known for using alternate tuning. He may keep it in a standard setup, until his soul is moved to explore something new.
-
I saw trip last year at bass day uk. He was indeed a phenomenal player and very friendly with it. Unfortunatly, He wasn't able to bring his Alembic last year - maybe this time. He certainly got enough encouragement from the three Edinburgh Alembicians who went.

Trip will be at the Atlanta Institute of Music tomorrow night at 8:00 for a clinic, private lessons are from 3-7:00.

Nice pics!

I've never heard of Trip Wamsley before, but he's playing at the Cozmic Cafe (http://www.thecozmiccafe.com/ target=_blank) in Placerville, CA (kind of near Sacramento) on Saturday, Sept. 1. Kind of thinking about going...
-
It'll be well worth your effort harry. Trip's an astounding player and a really nice guy to chat too aswell.

Trip Wamsley
By Bryan Beller | July 2007
Curve [twbass.com]
Trip Wamsley, virtuoso bassist and self-described resident of the ?Louisiana Dirty South,? survived Hurricane Rita and myriad other obstacles to crank out this shimmering, ethereal album of creative solo performances. The technical mastery required to carry this material is there and then some; he can slap, tap, arpeggiate, chord-comp, employ harmonics, and solo with the best of them. But for every one ripping piece of ?how?d he do that?? fireworks (check out ?Redneck Monolith? or ?Non A-06? if you just want your head blown off), there are two pieces that slow down and hypnotically emphasize tone, layering, atmosphere, and melody. Disposed to disparate dynamics, and using the feel, technique and mannerisms of a Michael Manring-influenced bassist, Wamsley creates a sonic universe reminiscent of a cross between Bill Frisell and modern folk acoustic guitar. Curve serves as a rewarding exercise in the Zen of solo bass composition and performance.

Go here http://www.bassplayer.tv/ (http://www.bassplayer.tv/) and pick summer namm 07 and you can see 2 clips with Trip. One with the Alembic 8 and another demoing other basses. I got to play the 8 at namm years ago. Amazing bass. Trip is also a wonderful individual as well as an incredible musician.

Thanks Danno, that was really nice!
-
Yeah, thanks for the heads-up dannobasso!
I don't go to the Introductions section too often, but when I did I found Trip's own introductory thread (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=9471)! Toshiaki gave a link to a really nice YouTube video in there.
So basically I'm pretty much planning on going to the show if I can make it (sometimes work intrudes into my off-time...)
-
Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to make the show tonight. I've driven over 1500 miles in the past three weeks for work, and I'm totally worn out! It's three hours round trip, and although I'll probably be kicking myself tomorrow, I don't think I'm up for it. If only it was a little bit closer, like Sacramento...

This was in the BP Recommends section of the April 2009 issue of Bass Player.
The Power Triplets
Ta-Da
(ThePowerTriplets.com)
Virtuoso bassist and eclectic composer Trip Wamsley has established himself as a master of solo bass on fretless and fretted alike, with deeply warm tones and exquisitely refined technique sprinkled liberally throughout his past solo releases. But he's got a rowdy side to his playing as well, and on Ta-Da he lets loose with a downright rude barrage of overdrive, heavy picking, power chords, aggressive rock-slapping, and open jam madness. Wamsley's interplay with guitarist Chris Nix (a Beck/Johnson/Morse-influenced revelation in his own right) and drummer Tom Hurst is raw and unafraid, it defiantly occupies the ample space necessary to make this power-trio's interesting material work, and it leaves nothing on the table.

This guy is fantastic!.

Just the Artist, not his Alembic this time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKdUREAa2JA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKdUREAa2JA)
Not sure whether it's OK to post this commercial (for a nonetheless very nice sounding envelope pedal), but I found the 1st demo song (running from 0m59sec 'til 1m57sec) just so sweet that I felt I should add it to the other great song already up here by this amazing bass player. Take care, Reinier

Here's the Tripster's latest youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA_rCJaHNB0&feature=youtu.be) . a zillion notes on a beautiful 5 string fretless.
Nice stuff Trip.
