Title: Armand Sabal-Lecco
Post by: jos on July 14, 2012, 07:04:39 AM
I just received Armand Sabal-Leccos new CD ?Positive Army? and have to tell you guys that this is about the best CD made by any bass player ever!! If something is fresh, this is it! There are rhythms and sounds that are even beyond what someone like Herbie Hancock would have done! Musically its like Armand meets the rest of the world kind of Fusion. Totally new music, never heard before. Just amazing I highly recommend everyone to check out this masterpiece, not only bass players! ?. but for us bass players??. there are things done on the bass on this CD that are totally from another planet!!

Some nice clips with Alembic Series II bass with two extra knobs. I did ask him on Myspace a few years ago what they were but he didn't want to say.

Nice clips! Armand is one of the few bass players in the world that really has magic in his fingers!
If I would be an instrument manufacturer I would definitely hire Armand, because he can make any bass sound like heaven!! I still love this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghorQAzBVMo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghorQAzBVMo)

I was honoured to receive a PM from Armand yesterday congratulating me on my recent Alembic purchase,I am still floored everytime I listen to him.One of his SC series 2's is interesting as it appears to have had a couple of pots removed from near the bridge.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/411/205456.jpg)

When I had a myspace account I got into a dialogue with him and asked what those two knobs were and he just replied they are sweetners. I did wonder if they were just brightness controls for the front and side LED's and he removed the knobs because they probably get in the way when reaching for the volume pots.

They look like the shafts of a couple of pots but as you say,the spacing would be a bit tight.
