Sure is sweet.

Wow, this one looks great. Is the top of the peghead coco bolo as well? I can't quite tell on my monitor.

You're right, Justin, the front veneer is Coco Bolo to match the body.
-
That is quite pretty!
-
The Maple on the back is really nice! The finished guitar should be great!

Pretty cool! I'd like to see the ending result
-
I love the knot inlay!!!
-
Wow, I like the Bolo, no, the Maple, no wait, the Bolo, damn, the maple, hey what's the big idea the back as nice as the front? Very funny wise guy. How are you going to decide which side up when she is on display? Not so funny now huh?
Very nice.

Here's the almost finished result:

Just waiting for the bridge the day before we shipped it. Also, a closeup of the knot inlay:

Which turned out great. I love how James selected the pieces - if you trace the path of the knot, there's a nice "flow" to the patterns.

What a stunning piece!! Great guitar, Scott. Congratulations.

I'll say! Congrats.

Scott...beautiful piece. Could you enlighten some of us as to the meaning of the Tibetan knot? Not it's personal significance to you (unless you want to share) but, rather, its historical significance.

Just beautiful, Scott. And how about a close-up of those very intricate & very custom fretboard inlays??!!
-
Scott:
Beautiful guitar, even if it is backwards! LOL

Are those DePaule Inlays?
-
Yes, a special request by Scott. Of course, we did the inlaying.
-
I'd love to hear Scott's comments, too. And I'd love to see closeups of the fretboard inlays!
The Tibetan knot is a Buddhist symbol, along with these others - I am guessing the fingerboard inlays are Auspicious Symbols.
Google reveals:
1. THE PRECIOUS UMBRELLA [PARASOL]
(CHATTRA [S.] Rinchen Dug [T.] Sikur [M.])
denotes respect; gives protection from all evil and the heat of evil desires
2. TWO GOLDEN FISH
(SURVANA MATSYA Sergyi Nya Jighasun)
represent Buddha's eyes, hence Transcendent Wisdom; happiness and utility; symbolic of beings saved from the ocean of earthly life and suffering
3. GREAT INEXHAUSTIBLE TREASURE VASE
(KALASHA Terchen-pahi Bumpa Bumba)
the innumerable qualities of a Buddha's Body; contains spiritual jewels; the treasury of all desires
4. THE EXCELLENT LOTUS FLOWER
(PADMA Padma Zangpo Badma)
representing the purity of the Buddha's Mind; emblem of original purity; pledge of salvation, or Nirvana
5. PRECIOUS WHITE CONCH HORN [TRUMPET],
WITH A SPIRAL THAT TURNS TO THE RIGHT
(SHANKHA Dungkar Yakhyil Labai)
symbolizes the sound of Dharma, which can be heard in all directions; proclaiming the fame of the saints; the blessedness of turning to the right
6. THE GLORIOUS INTERWOVEN KNOT OF LIFE
(SHRIVATSA Palgyi Behu Balbu)
the Mystic Diagram representing the Great Love of all the Buddhas, and the never-ending continuity of the Teachings of Buddha's Mind; the knot of Love; the thread which guides to happiness
7. SUPREME CIRCULAR BANNER OF VICTORY
(DHVAJA Choggi Gyaltshan Doja)
victory over negative influences; flag that celebrates the victory of Buddhism; the standard erected on the summit of the palace of salvation
8. PRECIOUS GOLDEN WHEEL OF DHARMA
(CHAKRA Sergyi Khorlo Kurde)
the Teaching of the Buddha; wheel of doctrine or religious law; the wheel which leads to perfection
I have personally become very interested in Buddhism and its style of meditation and so this custom really gives me ideas.

Hi Andy; this guitar was the Custom of the Month (http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_scottlaw.html) for January. Close ups of the inlays can be found there.
-
Andy:
Scott's fretboard inlays are banjo inlays. Similar to what Jerry Garcia had on Wolf, Tiger and Rosebud.
