Hi Peter, Nice to chat with you today. Your sweatshirt should show up in about a week. Meanwhile, back at your bass, it's living in carving presently:

It's hard to tell before the finish goes on, but it's a nice piece of Flame Maple on the top. A closeup might help a touch:

From here it looks like an extra thick piece of Flame Maple.
-
Thanks for posting this, Mica. I sent you a message regarding the headstock.
-
Susan sent you an email regarding the same. I'll ask her to give you a call later today.
-
Good day, all. Just checking in on the status of this instrument. A few months ago, Susan had estimated that the work we discussed on the neck/headstock would be done around late February
-
?
-
Done!

Looks great, hope you like it too.

Understated Elegance, very pretty flame and purple heart lam/accent?
-
Yes, plus a small Maple veneer between the Purpleheart accent laminate and the Mahogany body. The flame figure on this bass is extremely dimensional.
-
Very nice!
-
Sweet! The flame maple is absolutely beautiful. Congrats.
Peace
Tom
-
is the headstock different?
-
Weird. It's an elf-hat in the first pics, then a cone in the finished pics.
-
Play it well. The flame maple is fantastic. Congrats. The purpleheart laminate is perfect.
-
I too noticed the different head on it. Nice looking bass. I like the PH lam.
-
It's two different basses - check out the top laminate as well. We've been making the Essence basses with the Orion peghead lately. When Peter saw the first pictures, he contacted Susan about his preference for the original cone peghead shape, so we started another bass instead of changing the peghead.
-
That's great news, Mica. That is indeed a vivid flame. The purpleheart laminate is fantastic, too. I am very pleased. Will this have to go through the dealer, or can it be shipped directly to me? My new ensemble has a bunch of community gigs coming up, and who wants to play a back-up when they know that they have an Alembic in transit somewhere?!?
-
Sorry, but I'm certain that the music store will want to handle the transaction, especially because of customs.
-
Understood; if possible, just let me know when the instrument gets shipped to them, so I can follow up from there.
Thanks again.
-
I spoke with the music store a couple of weeks ago, and they hadn't been made aware of upcoming shipments. Any word on this?
-
pts. That bass is beautiful. I hope you get it soon.
-
All the communication goes through the Montreal location. They made arrangements with us to ship to the Toronto location (it's the first time they've done that), so that will cut down on the time it takes to get to you. I would be surprised if it didn't make it to the store this week.
-
Thanks, Mica. I'll follow up with them.
-
Just checked with Toronto; they don't have the instrument, or any knowledge of these shipping arrangements.
-
The shipping arrangements are make through the Montreal location, even though they asked us to ship to Toronto.
Yesterday, the carrier asked us to fax a copy of the NAFTA paperwork we included with the shipment. Mary traced the package today for you, and it shows that it was released from customs today. It will likely show up at the store on Monday. Please let us know if it does or doesn't.
