Title: Chris' Custom Excel
Post by: mica on September 15, 2006, 07:04:28 PM
I've been collecting these all along, so here's a good bunch of pictures for you:

Don't worry about the funky outlines on the body. Just a settling of dust when I moved some items off the body.

hey mica--is there room in the control cavity for EMW electronics?  I know I just ordered a AE-2 kit- but i see that cavity is bigger than i thought.  no big deal--but i think the EMW thing is pretty ultimate and if there is time and it fits...  i'd like to go for it!

I snuck in the drying room tonight to take a quick picture of your bass, but I could only get the back from where it was hanging:

You can see it's much more shiny now! It is getting close.

Is it done ?
I'm curious how it turns out, wondering how the body and neck balance out. It's hard to tell from the angle of the picture above..
Anyway, thats gonna be a nice bass Christian.

Hi Chris,

Here it is, completed on the wall just before heading to the shipping room:

It was a little optimistic for me to think we could get your bass shipped to arrive today. Is Friday a good receiving day for you?

I got the bass this morning!  wow.  i really like it.  i popped in the tone filter and q switch and it sounds great!  the 3 position q switch is nice-quite a variety of sounds (understatement). the neck is very comfy and it balances very very well on a strap or seated.  I actually recorded a quick little tune with it.  if anyone wants to hear:

it's all bass-except the loop of course.
i am very pleased!  thanks mica for getting it here quickly.

thanks!  the bass is more orange in real life but i think that will age to a nice wine red and then to brown right?

From what I've read, I think that's what you can expect from vermillion. Should be a great experience for the both of you.

Hi Mica, I just purchased bumhucker's Excel. What a great Bass. I have been looking for a short scale Alembic to replace my Spoiler.
I will fill out the registration to transfer the ownership. Is there something I will need beside the Serial number. And can you give some info on the electronics/
Thank you, Pabassist
