Your bass has been routed and is ready for the rest of carving:

Man....that is just sweet. That top is gonna be a looker when the finish hits.
-
Wow, that is pretty. What is the top wood? Walnut? Whatever it is, it's going to be a stunner, congrats.
-
Beautiful figure. Will it have an oiled or poly finish?
-
I like the way the wood is V'd. Looking forward to more pictures.

That is very nice. Adding a finish to that will look marvelous! Agreed, looking forward to further pictures for sure.
Enjoy Pierre! Play it healthy!

When you special order, you can specify your pickup placement, like on Bill's Brown Bass (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=7513).

Thanks for the response Mica!
I like the pup like Bill's bass, although I don't know how it would sound.

It should sound similar to the pickup position in your own 1976 Series I bass. Obviously a Brown Bass will not have the same tone as your bass, considering the different materials, pickups and electronics, but there will be similarities based on the pickup position.
As a general rule, the closer the neck pickup is to the center of the string (closer to the fingerboard), the bassier it will sound.
So Bill's Brown Bass would sound more similar to your bass than Pierre's.
-
I chose the neckward positioning for the neck pickup in order to make my bass sound a bit bassier and because I don't slap enough to justify moving the pickup away from the neck to give me extra room.

I've got two slightly different versions of the inlay for your bass:

Each position has a different sized cross. The only difference here is one or two crosses at the 24th fret. I had toyed with the idea of three, but I thought it looked a little crowded. The cross shape enlarged:

I incised it a little more than your sample so that the same shape could be used at all positions, and still look like the 8-point cross even way down at the 24th fret. Please let me know if this design is what you had in mind and also if you prefer 1 or 2 crosses.
