Beautiful!

What woods are in the neck & body?

I'm probably going to fail miserably but:

flatsawn zebrawood for the top
maple, walnut, and vermilion for the neck?

rest of the body is pretty impossible to see from just that picture.

How close was I?  Do I win a prize for getting it even partially right? ;-)

Prettier with finish on it:

It may be up to a month before anything else interesting happens to take a photo of. Once in spray, it's the start of the long and boring wait.

Very slick looking.  I like how the bridge pu sits on a bias.  The finish really brings out the color and figure of the zebra.  I can't wait to see it finished.  What color hardware?

This is such a cool guitar - right down to the vintage-looking cream pu's.  Congratulations.  I can't wait to see the glamour shots when it's done.

Is there a difference in sound, or is it some other reason for the opposite slant to the bridge pup when compared to the Stratocaster?

I like the end of the fretboard.  Nice detail with the truss-rod cover

Rob; yes, any time you move the position of a pickup there should be a change in tone.  Go here (http://www.till.com/articles/PickupResponseDemo/) for a demonstration of how pickup placement changes tone.  Using the demo you can see how angling the bridge pickup in this way will make the high frequency strings a little warmer.
Title: Control Layout
Post by: mica on March 05, 2008, 03:01:44 PM
Here's the control layout we're proposing:

The drawing you sent us had the pickup selector switches parallel with the strings, but they will really be crammed in there. We hope you like this suggestion.
