Macassar ebony, I would imagine - and are those ovals in vermillion?

This bass has a Coco Bolo fingerboard, and it's just dust in the oval cuts for now.

Too cool- really interesting body/top lam wood combination.  Throw in the ebony neck lams and you're gonna have a very unique bass.

I'm unsure of your Alembic background, but I have a signature equipped Rogue and I just love it.  Really versatile setup.

The color similarity in the vermillion and the red highlights in the CB is something I've never seen played on.  Great idea.  This one's going to be a stunner.

Bassman,I've been thinking about the red in the CB,alot.Seems to be a lighting issue the vermilion is alot darker than the pics at top also,I wish it would stay the color it looks but I kinda doubt it.

I was wondering about how much light had to do with the highlights showing up like that.  CB and vermilion both darken with age, too.  I think it's going to be a beauty no matter how you cut it.

Here's one with the sandwich view:

The pictures are all taken at different times of the day with available light. The Coco Bolo fingerboard will get a little darker once oiled, but the striking grain will still be visible.

The Vermilion starts out lighter, and darkens with age. This piece had oxidized less than others in storage, and so we started with it since Michael wanted a lighter color. As with all Vermilion, it will darken over time, but good habits, like keeping it in the case when you're not playing will keep the light from changing the color as quickly. It's a striking piece with interlocked grain.

Preset,is that like close to,in my hands?
Title: Archive through May 19, 2008
Post by: mica on May 19, 2008, 02:17:33 PM
Preset is about half through finish, when the frets go in. It's still got to return to the spray run and get the rest of the finish applied. So you've still got some time to wait.
