I also found this snapshot of what was going to be the top, but is now the back of your guitar:

The peghead cut out:

In this picture it's almost ready to get the bookmatch to center top. Here's the gorgeous top laminate:

And with a 'tone swipe to show it off:

This is a total knockout piece of wood.
-
oh no........its that board again,,,,,,,,
lol
very appropriate on haloween
i see ghosts and goblins
-
Yes, It's a stunning piece. When it looks this good with only an acetone swipe to highlight the figuring, you know it's going to be outstanding with a fresh sanding and the real deal finish on it.
FYI-I had set this piece aside for myself but the customer's needs come first.
Dante's going to have a beautiful guitar.
Susan
-
so is this the last piece of the plank no one wanted to bother with and turned out to be of the best bunch?>
interesting watching the migration of the patterns from mine at the top to this at the bottom
there should be a i got a slab of the finest qcb ever club,,,,
and the money dont hurt either right sus?
lmao
in the haloween spirit- i created a monster!!!!
i bet everyone loves me and the other ftc for not taking it for the back woods,.,,
-
ps- that backwood looks 3d
-
I can't wait to see this one taking shape. It's an unbelievable piece of wood!
Graeme
-
Forgot this one!

-
Wow!
-
Cool!
The Ghosts and Goblins ARE there! This is gonna be a beautiful Guitar. The Rosewood is outstanding, also. Can't wait to track the progression! Enjoy, Dante!!
mike (the 'Ho)....

The back is now shaped:

The rest of the bookmatch to center magic is happening on the front laminate. I'll post more pictures as interesting things happen!
-
Bookmatch to center in place:

thank so much Mica for the pix I am injoying them so much. I just figured out how to post. i would have replied sooner. it realy does look like magic you are doing there
-
So... is the name of your instrument going to be DANTE'S INFERNO? It sure looks like molten/liquid Coco Bolo!
Congrats, quite a beauty!
Hey... just out of curiousity... what's the little rectangle at the end of the fingerboard... what is it? What is it's purpose?
-
Boy Dante, I don't know where they are coming up with all of these last pieces of Quilted Coco Bolo but they just keep getting better and better and better and bet------rrrr!!!!!!
Great piece of Artwork. You da Man, Paul
-
Hi Dante; congrats and welcome to the board!
-
Thanx guyz for the welcome i have been waiting a minute to get here.
-
Hay Mica I was wondering if the back gets carved in on top the tummy carve i beleive like littel bear to expose the layers?
-
I geuss i should have asked earlier but can i get the truss rod cover qcb or is it to late? there is so many details crazy
-
Hello Dante and welcome.
Great guitar! You probably should give them a call since Mica is on vaca soon and might not see your request here in a timely manner. That's the best way to get the change on your order.
-
Phenomenal wood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WoWWWWWWW
-
o yah just for the clearification this piece of qcb was not a piece sombody passed up it was on reserve
-
It does look very 3-D!
-
Now the top has the rough contour and it's routed to boot:
-
gorgeous- simply gorgeous
if i didnt have a qcb myself i would drive out there and steal this one
-
I knew this guitar was in the spray run - so I sneaked in while everything is wet, that's why the angle is so funky and I had to use the flash so the color's all funny but:
From the back I could step back a little and not use the flash, so the color is a little closer to reality:
-
i can see why this piece was heading for private stock
that is simply unworldly
mica
we of the qcb final slab club thank whomever for thinking it sucked and sticking it on the shelf
for how many years?
-
test
-
looks great Dante!
-
A few more coats now, and the guitar is ready for inlays and fretting:
There's still many coats of finish after the frets are installed, but it's looking really great!
-
Wow!
-
Wow indeed, that is a spectacular top!
-
Here's a picture of the inlays in place:
They look great!
Your guitar is back in spray and a few coats away from the final curing.
-
Yow. What a beauty!
Bill
-

-
Hey! Here's one all nice and shiny after the rubout:
You can tell how smooth the finish is.
While the pickups get their last little bit of finish done, the rest of the electronics and hardware are getting installed. I'll post more pics in a few days.
-
thank you very much that is awesome
-
Getting close!
-
Mica just wondering about brass knobs if they cost extra or not i think they would look good with the qcb
-
No charge for brass knobs, we'll install them on the guitar for you.
-
Thank you Mica I think they will look rad on that red qcb
-

hi Mica
just wondering if you got my correct address I have moved a few times
-
I got the new address. This picture is from Monday:
We're just installing the switches for the Roland pickup scrolling, so as I explained to your wife this afternoon, I think we'll finish the guitar tomorrow or Friday, and ship it on Monday. We'll confirm with you guys by phone before it ships just to make sure someone will be home to receive it.
-
yah baby yah baby thats the purtiest guitar so much detail in the wood thank you Mica for the pix

too nasty. tone a back a notch please before everybody melts.
-
u pervert affter reread i see ur point
-
i don't mean to sound perversive, just that I like your guitar. it's like a fire and furnace. very hot. and with the midi, very nice. i see what you mean now. you thought i was responding to post 17, but really was responding to post 16 and the excellent guitar!
-
right on brother what a play on words i was having fun as wel thanx i cant wait
-
Mica, any news
-
We're really hoping for today. It's so darn close, but it's possible we won't be able to ship until the 13th. Here's where we were yesterday:
If you can't see the switches, don't worry... here's a clue:
They almost blend in with the grain. It's the first time we've fashioned the switches like this, and we're totally excited about how good they look, how well they work, and how nice they feel. Definitely superior to the included switches with the kit.
-
amazing Alembic you do amazing things thank you
Dante
-
wow the switches do blend in, and just in time for my birthday and holloween its been along time since I have been so excited about something to where i have dreams about it
-
That latest pic of the top is absolutely stunnng.
Graeme
-
Party at Dante's tomorrow:
We included the gold knobs you requested so if you prefer them, you can change them out. We tried it both ways and liked the black ones better since they didn't compete with the depth of the wood.
-
Wow, you could get lost in that top.
-
o yah are you seriuos is it going to be here tomarrow I dont think we paid for overnight but if you did i will call yo in the morning to give you my credit card info thank you Mica and Susan and the whole Alembic team
-
Congratulations Dante - that guitar is absolutely stunning. Surely a future COTM.
graeme
-

-
In the last photo, the string cuts the t just enough so it looks like the inlay says DANCE.....
It's a very inspiring guitar to say the least, and Im sure it'll get the crowd up off their feet!
-
Thank you Thank you Alembic, Susan , Mica , Ron, Da Boys in Da shop and I mean boys in the same way when were sitin aruond talking about Jerry and da boys this is truly an amazing guitar all words have been spoken however I think Cadilac is so for understates whats realy going on here. Its more like Mazerati or bently hand made with a spirit inside this guitar is alive and man I bearly just begun to experiance her, She is inspiering to me as well like magic under my fingers
-
Based on our last conversations (and message exchanges!), here's what I've got lined up for your guitar custom inlays:
Do you still want a Taurus on the third fret?
-
looks great no. on the tarus
thank you
-
Hi Dante,
Sorry, there's no way to add a continuous wood truss rod cover once the top has been glued in place like yours has. We could make one from Rosewood to match the fingerboard or just leave it as brass. Let me know which you prefer.
-Mica
