In this picture it's almost ready to get the bookmatch to center top.  Here's the gorgeous top laminate:

And with a 'tone swipe to show it off:

This is a total knockout piece of wood.

Yes, It's a stunning piece. When it looks this good with only an acetone swipe to highlight the figuring, you know it's going to be outstanding with a fresh sanding and the real deal finish on it.

FYI-I had set this piece aside for myself but the customer's needs come first.

Dante's going to have a beautiful guitar.

So... is the name of your instrument going to be DANTE'S INFERNO?  It sure looks like molten/liquid Coco Bolo!

Congrats, quite a beauty!

Hey... just out of curiousity... what's the little rectangle at the end of the fingerboard... what is it?  What is it's purpose?

Hello Dante and welcome.

Great guitar!  You probably should give them a call since Mica is on vaca soon and might not see your request here in a timely manner.  That's the best way to get the change on your order.

I knew this guitar was in the spray run - so I sneaked in while everything is wet, that's why the angle is so funky and I had to use the flash so the color's all funny but:
From the back I could step back a little and not use the flash, so the color is a little closer to reality:

A few more coats now, and the guitar is ready for inlays and fretting:

There's still many coats of finish after the frets are installed, but it's looking really great!

Hey! Here's one all nice and shiny after the rubout:
You can tell how smooth the finish is.

While the pickups get their last little bit of finish done, the rest of the electronics and hardware are getting installed. I'll post more pics in a few days.

I got the new address. This picture is from Monday:
We're just installing the switches for the Roland pickup scrolling, so as I explained to your wife this afternoon, I think we'll finish the guitar tomorrow or Friday, and ship it on Monday. We'll confirm with you guys by phone before it ships just to make sure someone will be home to receive it.

We're really hoping for today. It's so darn close, but it's possible we won't be able to ship until the 13th. Here's where we were yesterday:
If you can't see the switches, don't worry... here's a clue:
They almost blend in with the grain. It's the first time we've fashioned the switches like this, and we're totally excited about how good they look, how well they work, and how nice they feel. Definitely superior to the included switches with the kit.

Party at Dante's tomorrow:

We included the gold knobs you requested so if you prefer them, you can change them out. We tried it both ways and liked the black ones better since they didn't compete with the depth of the wood.

Post by: mica on November 20, 2007, 05:37:34 PM
Hi Dante,

Sorry, there's no way to add a continuous wood truss rod cover once the top has been glued in place like yours has. We could make one from Rosewood to match the fingerboard or just leave it as brass. Let me know which you prefer.
