A couple of infancy shots of your bass-to-be! This is the top and back:

Body getting clamped to neck (back is already in place):

Next stop... laminating the bookmatched to center top. And the obligatory blurry peghead shot:

It's a special gift I have. Looks super sweet, and as usual even better in person.

O.M.G. This will be the single most BEAUTIFUL Buckeye Burl bass ever in my eyes!!! I was SO hoping for a headstock laminate, Exactly like this!!! Alembics choice of layout on this piece of Buckeye is ...... Perfection!!! H.S. O.M.G.!!
-
Gorgeous Buckeye Burl!
-
This is going to be a fantastic instrument
Graeme

I can't quit staring at the pictures! WOW!!
-
Hot. I want one.
-
I just never get tired of looking at buckeye, this is going to be spectacular when the first coats of finish are on it
-
I think its awesome Alembic lets you choose from their Wood Bank!!! This one just really spoke to me!
-
I missed a few things while I was out sick, but your bass is coming right along. It's now in its second round of carving:

Amazing!!! This build is speeding right along ! So much seems to be getting done in record time. I should have ordered two!!!.......hmmm?@!
-
1 truss rod??? Great lookin bass!!!
-
Thank you! Yea I saw that also. Thought it might be a camera angle. Looks dead center though.?!??
-
Susan told me it would have a low profile neck. Might just be one heavier trust rod.
-
Two truss rods as usual:

Black arrows point to the standoff nuts, covered in masking tape. Red arrow is actually a Maple laminate in the neck.
-
Thanks Mica!
I thought it sat too far back to be a trust rod!
Ready for another round of your flawless photography! She sure is a beauty!!...... I'll say it again.....WOW!!!
-
I can already see how those patterns on top wood will end amazing when finished and the bridge get finaly installed
-
Beautiful bookmatched top, can't wait to see some finish added to this. Getting closer Jay, enjoy!
-
Thanks Art!
More pictures appearing here soon!
-
Hey Mica!
Are we any closer to spraying a little finish on her yet? I can't wait to get a peek at that Buckeye! Maybe a back of peghead shot!
Regards,
Jay R.
-
two truss rods are better than one...ultimate stabilty.
Yep..can't wait to see the first sealer coats to bring the grain to life
-
Feeling a picture fix comin on! The anticipation's killing me!
-
It's in finish:
But I keep showing up after it's all sanded and prepped for the next coat of finish, so it's not all shiny and pretty. At least I got to it today before Bob sanded the sides:
so at least you can see the sandwich well.
-
Wow! Even in sanding this bass is a head turner! I can see aquamarine colors mixed in, now that there's finish on her! Suggestions anyone on what to name her?!! Blue L.E.D.s were definatly the way to go with this wood!
-
Quick!..............Catch a pic before its sanded!! I love this wood! It's kinda like a tye- dye shirt effect!!
-
Success!

Gorgeousness.
-
Gorgeousness indeed! .......Sorry, just picked my jaw up off the floor! Pictures are worth a thousand words!
-
Wow, that's fantastic! From the april 22nd pics I'm guessing this will have continuous wood backplates? They're really going to make this instrument!
graeme
-
Thanks Graeme,
Continuous backplates for sure! The electronics plate definatly has a lot of ribbons in it. It's a Wow bass for sure!
-
Wow! The top and back pics are absolutely beautiful!
-
I'll take one of these with the modified Dragon Wing style headstock, please. Some nice red LEDs in the neck would also be nice. It was my wedding anniversary just earlier this month... I'm totally worth it.
Seriously a beautiful looking instrument. That top is fabulous. I'd love to A/B this against my Rogue which has the same wood recipe save the top/back; and the same basic electronics package.
-
Thanks! This one is completely different than my other MK. Buckeye Burl / Cocobolo - Mahogany / Vermillion - ebony lam.- aluminum tone block / brass - Fatboy Pup.- red leds / blue ......Can't wait!!
-
Is this just me or what? I definitely see a _mule_ in the grain of the first pic in Mica's first post.
Drop dead _gorgeous_ bass with or without the mule, who seems to have disappeared as the bass was built up and routed.
-
I can see the mule now that you mention it. Had to kinda squint my eyes.
Mule walks into a bar. Bartender asks, why the long face! Lol!
-
Jeez I don't know how you could miss it!
-
That is simply hilarious! It's so obvious to me now !
-
Just doing my 30 day check up! What's new with Incredibass!
-
Bbbbump! Any new pictures or updates?!
-
Joining the soiree late but, wow! What a beautiful piece of Buckeye! This bass is gonna take your breath away when it's in your hands (heck, it's making me wheeze and I'm just staring at pictures).
Mike
-
Saw your bass in rubout. I can't predict the exact shipping date, but it does look like it will be pretty soon if all goes well.
-
Thanks!! Is rubout before electronics & setup or after?! Starting to get excited!!
-
It's the last step before electronics and setup.
-
Mica, when does the company start to rub out the customers instead of the basses (you know I love ya')?
Awesome Buckeye, from one that owns a Series Buckeye. I never get enough of that variety wood. Enjoy it and play as an awesome player!
BTW It is the horses head and not the bottom round that I see in the first picture. And I love horses. Hey Dave H. is that OK on the Forum? Heh heh heh!!!!
-
Steve; your love for horses and fine Buckeye Burl is hereby moderator approved. Please send $35 check to Moderators' Fund, Alembic, Inc., Santa Rosa, CA.

> > > > This HAS to be the most beautiful buckeye burl I've ever seen in my life. I'm wanting a bass like this very badly already :P Big Congrats! > > >
-
Picking just one selection from the wood bank, is no small task! Thanks everyone for the confirmation !!
-
It still needs final inspection and the real pictures from me, but here it is:
Enjoy!
-
I'll say it again, a picture is worth a thousand words!!.....Stunning comes to mind!!
-
Wow!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!
-
Thanks Dave!
Check out how well the golden MOPs compliment the Buckeye! :P
-
So Nice wow...
-
Yes, they do; very nice touch!
-
Another stunning bass from the undisputed masters. You should be very proud Jay.
Graeme
-
Oh wait... gotta get some duct tape... to put my jaw back on its place...
Me. Want.
-
And to think, this started out as a piece of wood named Foggy Friend! :P
-
Well Incredibass arrived Friday , and was lucky enough to have a gig that same night! What a HUGE sound! I highly recommend the ebony laminate in the neck! This is one incredible instrument! Thank You Alembic!
