There's still the calibration and final inspection to finish, but here's your bass today:
The tape is holding the humcanceller in place until it receives the final approval from my dad.

There are 2 calibrations in front of yours, so for a little while, your bass will just be waiting in line. But you might as well see how it's shaping up!

Hi Mica,

Wow, cool!
But will you kindly post some more pics to see peghead with logo and nut?
Thanks for your assistance.

I think you are right but I'll put in as stained ash just to thicken the pot-plot.

Paul,

If I remember correctly- Alembic doesn't use stains.  They do tint the spray finish (like the cool amber finish on some of the maple tops), but they never stain the wood.

Take all of that with a grain of salt- I've been VERY wrong a few times around here.

It's Vermilion - and I'll dash in the setup room later in the week to get you a photo of the peghead too, Shoji.

Hi Mica,

Hope you still remember my request for more pics of the peghead. Because, I'm eager to see that to see if it's completed as ordered before shipment from the factory.

Your bass is in the final calibration area, so we're nearly done now. Here's the back of the bass:

Mica,

Thanks for the cool pics!!!
Looks really amazing, but just one question for you.
Is that the Solid 14K Gold logo and script that I ordered? I paid extra for it, but cannot find out any script on it.

Your bass completely finished, and quite possibly already at Bass Northwest:

And a closeup to the 14k gold logo and script:
It's quite a bit more shiny than the bronze logo.

Dear Shoji,

May I be the first to congradulate you on this momentuous occasion!
You probably won't see this though until you crawl out from the room that you entered with this in your hands.
Anyway, when you come out for air, SWEET BASS!!

Aloha, Paul

Title: (x) String slots in nut and bridge
Post by: redtiger on March 12, 2007, 08:46:50 AM
Hi Mica,

Another request for you.
I'm going to play with .030 .040 .060 .080 gauges in tenor bass tuning(ADGC).
Request to have a nut and a bridge with string slots to fit properly made.
Thanks in advance.

I've made this clear on the work order, but one thing we prefer for special sptrings is that you send us a set of what you intend to use on the bass. This way, we'll make sure that the tensions involved will work out best and be the easiest for you to adjust for in the future.

Please send them to:
Alembic, Inc.
Attn: Mica
3005 Wiljan Court
Santa Rosa, CA 95407

Thank you.

I received your strings today, 3 from D'Addario EXL190 and a single SBL 030 from Rotosound. I'll get these matched up with your bass for the final setup.
Title: (x) Neck Finish
Post by: redtiger on March 10, 2007, 12:10:11 AM
Hi Mica,

Lately I've noticed there is an option to have clear neck finish with satin neck feel, and there is no charge for this option on any instrument that has the polyester finish.
Request to have my neck with satin neck feel.
Thanks in advance.

I have confirmed that the work order is marked for gloss finish with satin neck feel.
Title: (x) Neck dimensions
Post by: redtiger on March 07, 2007, 08:01:05 AM
There's one thing I worry about. It's neck dimensions.
I've placed an order with custom fingerboard width (nut width:1.4 inches with narrow bridge). But, is that enough info for you? Otherwise, do you need some more inputs or further discussion?

I checked the work order for you. The nut width is 1.4 inches and teh 24th fret is 2.25. The 2.25 dimension is the same that we use for our Classic taper necks (the ones with narrower bridge spacing).
