Post by: dudi8 on November 13, 2013, 11:44:08 AM
Hi!
I just got a SC signature deluxe and i want to change the strings on it, which strings do you recommend in 30-90 light gauge?

Thanks!

Hello David,

I've tried both, but unfortunately both types didn't have enough tension for my neck when tuned to standard pitch.  Hopefully your bass will react better.  See the Setup for Slapping thread for further discussion, and please report back how it goes.

I have a short scale MK Deluxe, along with a medium scale custom Essence.

I got very good results with D'Addario ProSteels, or whatever it is their brightest stainless strings are called.  They last much longer than Rotos, which may be a little better, tonally, but Rotos have the half-life of a mayfly.  D'Addarios really last and they are _cheap_ at JustStrings.com

I've recently moved over to the pro steels and they do seem to keep their brightness longer than other strings I've tried.

I've been using GHS strings for a long time now and love them (Bassics L-6000 on my Rogue and Super Steels 6L-STB on my 6 string Washburn). The bassics are low cost and fits my need for lighter G and D, for easier bending (.040 .058), matched with a beefier and stiffer E (.102). Never regularly used fancier brands to have a fair comparison, just the ones easy to find in Brazil, and always opted for light sets (although never tried .030 since they hardly shows up around here).

I've also tried some D'Addarios and Rotosounds, but couldn't like them and always get back to the GHSs, don't know exactly why...
They don't produce tons of different ultra-light string sets, but check the Super Steels. Although I prefer nickel strings with Alembic more open sounding PUs, check out XL-5000 (.030/.090), it may fit your needs.

after your help+ many posts in forum + stanley clarke himself wrote me, I'm thinking between D'addario EXL220M nickels or Rotosound RS66M

what do you reckon??
