And the "Hearter" Omega sketch:

Everything's coming together really nicely - can't wait to see the finish on these woods.

Inlays have been cut out a while. This is the synthetic opal that Jerry sourced:
It's amazingly hard stuff! Takes about an hour to slab and another to cut the oval out,
(http://club.alembic.com/Images/631/222834.jpg)
but it's totally worth it, WOW!
-
Oh wow... those inlays are beautiful.
-
Rockin!
-
Jerry always comes up with an interesting twist that distinguishes his Alembics from all others.
This build is no exception. Those ovals look like they are on fire when they move...incredible!
-
The burl will pop big time! Add an imposing neck recipe, and I can see where those ovals come in. It's going to look the part!
-
Wow, this is going to be a fun build thread to watch!
I'm wondering what is used to cut and shape the opal? Jeweler's saw?
-
So cool looking and a great idea using synthetic! Never cease to amaze. Gonna be a wonderful build.
-
I was told they used a thin diamond wheel to cut that stuff up. It doesn't look quite like a true opal, but it is as close as I could get without cashing in my 401K.
-
Can you imagine how seriously cool if they were lightly backlit with an LED just enough to give a subtle glow to highlight the pattern in each one.
-
Gee Wizz!!!....this shyt is Far out Batman!
-
Synthetic opal comes in some interesting colors (http://www.sanwapearl.com.hk/)
-
Yup. That's where I ordered that chunk from.
-
Amazing stuff and it comes in 78 different colors. I'll bet there a lot out there like me who had a custom made over the last few years who are now thinking, why did I not think of that.
-
I too am looking forward to seeing this with finish.
-
This is a little sneak peek of the finish:
This is the underside of the top just before it was glued up. In the hollow area, it's first masked off and finished, then the shielding paint, then the glue up. The wood is gonna pop like crazy with finish.
-
My very thought, Jazzy!

Ready for inlays, frets, and then the decision to selectively finish the top trans red or not.

Loving the woods and the "Hearter Omega" carving detail... really pretty!
-
Extremely awesome and yes, the heart omega looks great!
Some day you'll get an order for a Series Spoiler with that feature.
Great follow up for Shamrock, Congrats!
-
That's just surreal. Could be a little redder, with those blue inlays. Heck, I'd hate to second guess nature on that one... glad it's not my call. =)
-
It might as well be your call, dude. Redder is better. This thing is looking really cool. I'm dying to see the rest of the walnut with the backplates.
This is what I had in mind for the color.

-
Roger on the red wash.
I'll snag the backplates for a photo when they catch up.
-
Beautiful top!!
-
Wow, beautiful!
-
Logo inlay dropped in now...
-
Sweetness achieved! Wow!
-
Yeah, that's pretty cool.
-
Love it!
-
Here's the red tint sample and the peghead meeting for the first time. They are like twins!
The logo has a mask over it, and that will come off so there won't be any red wash over the inlay. I know that looks a little odd now, but it's only temporary.
-
From one Amboyna guy to another, that is freakin' cool.
T
-
Progress!
-
Liking the red wash. That's gonna' be nice with that blue inlay.
I was just thinking, that must be a tricky operation masking off the inlaid logo, spraying coat(s) of red wash, then filling in with clear again so it builds evenly. Truly awesome, the detail.
-
Just sitting the sofa and chillin' for a few days.
Look reeeeeaaaaallllly purdy!
-
Oh wow. Those inlays are insane, as is that top wood. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
-
Really nice color to the wood! Beautiful bass.
-
sexy!
-
Congrats, that's a fine example!
-
Very Nice! Looking forward to seeing the inlaid logo on the headstock. I think that's my favorite feature on this one. Tough call, with so many to choose from.
hey, wait a minute... is that a new sofa? :)
-
Oh, yea!! (The bass, not the sofa...)
-
Another great bass is delivered to music.
-
Insanity. I didn't get the email notification that new posts were made to this thread so I am JUST NOW seeing these latest pics for the first time! I doubt I'll be able to work with any sense of interest tomorrow because I'll be drooling over these pics all damned day. \m/ \m/
-
And the knowledge that the Hipshot tuner arrived on Friday won't help either. Looks like Tuesday is shipping day. Mary or I will call you to coordinate the arrival date.
-
Preliminary Congratulations & Compliments Jerry. That's quite a bass there. ;)
-
Love that top; congrats!
-
Gorgeous bass Jerry! Congratulations! I love the inlays! I wish I would have known about the synthetic opal when I did my build, it would have looked great on my Blue Orca!
-
Cool looking bass, I like the body shape. Interesting that you can only see the pictures on page three when signed in.
-
I haven't received this puppy yet, but I expect to early next week. Next gig is 10/8. I'm REALLY looking forward to plugging it in. I've rehearsed it in my mind several times. ;D
-
Amazing stuff and it comes in 78 different colors. I'll bet there a lot out there like me who had a custom made over the last few years who are now thinking, why did I not think of that.
I'm sure there is an option and cost for anyone to have them retro fitted.
-
I thought you guys might want to see the finished product.
-
That's magnificent! Thanks for showing us pics. Congrats!!
-
Love that body shape!
-
Congratulations & Compliments Jerry... WOW - what a bass!
ps, are those TI Jazz Flats?
-
Nope. Rotosound Swing Bass 40-95. I'm not big on flatwounds.
-
Congrats, Jerry. It's beautiful!
Rob
-
Very groovy!!
