I hear a lot on the threads about how great the sustain is with ebony and other characteristics it has for bass and guitar making.
I'm just curious to know if alembic has ever made a bass completely out of ebony or predominantly out of it with different types of ebony making up the hippie sandwich middle top and back with ebony neck laminates and fretboard.
I guess it would be very heavy... and expensive. Just wondered if you guys ever made one and what was it like....

I also believe the Beatles were talking about an ebony bass when they sang:
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight ... carry that weight for a long time. lol

I've had this crazy idea rolling around in my head for sometime and It doesn't seem to want to go away so I guess I may have to build a bass this way someday. Picture a cocobolo neck with three ebony lams in the center! That one might be just a little bit neck heavy but what a sound!
