Title: Pickguard on my Rogue

Have you seen the scratches on Wooten's Fodera? My Rogue has some pick marks on its brass truss rod cover made by previous owner that bothers me and I was not happy when saw this light scratches (probably made by my nails when slapping), either. I'm not a heavy thumper and doesn't slap too often but got worried about hurting my Rogue's finish, so I decided to protect it somehow.
 
The problem is that I love wood and Alembic's selection must be seen, also I don't really wanted to drill and screw some pickguard on her. So I've decided to use one of those cell phone protective peel, instead. Despite it would look pretier without samsung ad, it is a great solution (intend to switch it by one clear IPad film soon). They are electrostactic, so no glue to harm finishing or clean ahead.

Regarding Victor Wooten's bass; I went to see his band many years ago, and he had two other bass players with him.  On the finale, the three bass players would toss Victor's basses back and forth to each other between verses.  He also likes to twirl his bass around his neck.  There's a story that one time when he did this, the strap came off and the bass went flying across the stage.  So, not surprising that Victor's bass has scratches on it.  My guess is that you take better care of your bass than Victor does.

It's interesting that it happened just as his language got colourful. Instant karma.

There are clear stick-on pick-guards. I put one on my Beardsell acoustic so the wood could show through.

I remember reading about Victor Wooten getting hit in the head with his own bass while twirling it - almost knocking him out.  I think the story was in the biography 'Me and My Bass Guitar'.
 
Though, as always, take my 'memories' with a grain of salt.
