i bought heavy cdbd to cut the necks and lay my strings on them

You're going to love the abalone(are they ovals?)inlays....Not to mention the rest of your bass....
-
I pulled out my Persuader to look at the spacing. Same 32 scale length you're talking about. It appears to be 2 at the nut and 2.5 at the 24th fret. This spacing is extremely fast for fingerstyle play, but is awfully snug for slapping. I could probably tolerate a little tighter spacing at the nut, but definitely no closer in the picking area.
I recently played a four string that was only 1.4 at the nut and that spacing felt wonderful. I didn't ask or measure in the upper frets, but it seemed to open up to be at least as wide as my five in the picking area. The incredibly comfortable feel of that bass is the primary reason why I am considering making the leap back to four string.
I think I will either have to get back to Santa Rosa when your bass is getting close to ready, or will have to hunt you out once you receive it. At least, that's what I'll do if I haven't ordered by then.
I hope it fits you perfectly!

thanks bob- i dont slap- so that is not an issue
you can touch my bass in california- only if you know the magic password- or come to ny!
lol
-
yes they are ovals...
i am going with 1 ebony lam, side jack, moved controls, and a secret cosmetic change
-
Du'oh! I totally missed this post, Jeff. Good luck with the new bass. You'll wait, but you'll get to see the thing come to life before your eyes here on the site. Make sure you get Mica to post plenty of pix, you hear? LOL!
-
Can't wait to follow this one in FTC...will be ordering something very similar a few years from now. You, sir, are obviously a genius of some sort.
I, meanwhile, must find that Freeport phone book, and those stockings (evil grin)...
KFS

neither can i kfs- your only about 3 hours away from me,,,
i didnt get psyched until i hung up with susan after forking over the inlay money. you guys are gonna shit, when you see the inlay. i also am having my initials put in on the 24th fret. what susan is doing is filling the 24th fret totally in abalone. they will then carve out 2 iniials and back fill them in ebony
-
also am going 1.75 nut .182 edges- .470 spacing
2.445 at the 24th fret
-
oh- the bass is no longer named scarlet...
because of who the inlay is of. the inlay will be on the lower bout below the bridge and the controls will be moved twds the upper bout.
no i am not telling on the inlay- thats for the ftc
is it chanukah yet?
