Title: Pricing Question
Post by: bassjigga on August 10, 2005, 09:54:44 AM
I've been looking into Alembics and I'm just wondering what to expect as far as the actual street price. Is there an average discount percentage from the list price?

If purchased directly from Alembic, you shall pay actual list. If purchased from an Alembic dealer, they often discount 10 to 30 per cent off of list (depending on dealer, & depending on actual instrument). Excellent deals are often found here on this forum, also. (Recently, a Rogue 5 was offered for $1500; granted, it was pre-owned, but at 50-60% discount from new, in great shape...jeez, whatta deal!)
Best of luck........

Alembic no longer allows a discount of 30%.  Val's comments on discount policy can be found here (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=6669).

Whew! I always get into trouble everytime price/money is mentioned, LOL! I behaved myself on the mega-thread RE: new dealer pricing, and I'll behave myself here.

I prefer to steal them (barely) used . . . there's always some schmuck that bought one, couldn't 'get it', went back to his PBass, and now he wants to sell out to pay for something else.  And like all the luthier basses, they are lot$ cheaper on the used market.  Dealer pricing is none of my business.
