Title: Definetly just a dream...
Post by: zach on April 21, 2007, 09:53:45 AM
when i can afford it in ten or so year time...
A mark king deluxe, balance k heart omega body, red side LED's, roman numeral fret inlay, signature electronics, tummy and elbow contours, either wine or cherry burst finishes, not sure about woods, possibly quilted coco bolo if thats available, oh yeah and ebony neck laminates... thats about it for now.
maybe one day i'll be able to afford it..

If you are thinking about a cocobolo top, there's no point in anything but a clear finish.  Cocobolo is its own visual show.

Wineburst and amberburst look absolutely lovely on Alembic's selection of premium maples, though.

How's this for a dream then. Series I or II
Europa body or SC small body signature style.

Ebony through neck with two or three Maple laminates depending on SC or Europa.

Body wood in ebony only cavities for the electronics. Quilted coco bolo top and back, bookmatched to centre. Purpleheart between and maple pinstripes for the hippy sandwich.

So that would be from back to front.
Coco Bola
Maple laminate
purpleheart

Ebony body

coco bolo

Then have the body edging done like the tribute guitars thick sculptured top so that you can see the sandwich from the front as well.

My initials inlaid at the 12th fret, side led's with contrasting colour at 12th and 24th fret.

I guess a subscription too a weightlifters gym to build up shoulders to hold the weight of the bass maybe a good idea too.

Jazzyvee:

That recipe would make for a beautiful bass!  (and one that's roughly the same weight as my old Austin-Healy Bug-Eye Sprite!)  LOL

Wow that sounds like a heavy bass! You going to set it up Barker-style?

They're big electric basses mounted on a stand in an upright position.

I've heard good things about them. Haven't played one yet myself. Trip Wamsley - an avid Alembic user - has one and he loves it.

I can't say I don't mind the looks. The NS Design version is more appealing to me - so much so that I bought a WAV.

I played a Barker bass at the Bass Gallery in Atlanta.. I wasn't too impressed. It was really awkward feeling, probably because I mainly play a real upright.. It did have a good sound, though.
Not even in the same league as the Classico, IMHO.
