What, if any, is the difference in the balance of an essence bass vs a balanced K body? It looks to me like the body of a balance K model is longer than the essence body, which I would think would make it body-heavy.  
 
Would it be feasible to put series or signature electronics in an essence body in an effort to cut down on weight and improve balance, or would the essence body simply be too small to hold all of the electronics?

I imagine the answers to these questions would depend on neck length to some degree. How would the above criteria affect 32 and/or 34 inch necks.

As I recall the Series electronics require a thicker body than is standard for non-Series instruments. I have also seen comments from Mica that Signature electronics barely fit in an Essence body. Given this I don't think you could get Series electronics into a standard Essence but should be able to order one with Signature.  
 
Have considered Europa electronics? They are quite versatile and easy to use.

They somehow managed to squeeze Signature electronics + an additional master bass and treble control in my Rogue.  It is very tight in there but it fit and the knobs are still far enough apart that they are easy to get to/use on the fly.  A Rogue isn't that much bigger than an Essence.

I dig the Balance K.  That was my second choice for body shape when I ordered my Rogue.

Second after the Rogue shape, I presume.
 
You can order most Alembic models with any body shape you prefer. You pick the base model with the standard features that you prefer (or can afford) and then change the body shape (usually an upcharge).
 
For instance the Rogue features are a mix of Essence (neck-through but no purpleheart neck laminates, Essence electronics) and Europa (purpleheart laminates, Europa electronics) in that the Rogue has the neck of the Essence but the electronics of the Europa.
 
That's why you should play around with the Quote Generator a bit before deciding what to order (when it's up and running again).

Somewhere between 11 and 12 pounds.  I don't have a scale that can tell me subdivisions of a pound and I don't have small weights to start adding 1/10ths of a pound to figure it out that way.  I can tell you that it isn't a big deal to play 4+ hours a night with it.  A few weekends ago I did two 90 minute sets and one 2 hour set in the same afternoon with no problems.
 
Something else to take into consideration if weight is an issue - get continuous wood backplates or just stick with the black plastic.  The brass back plates add a respectable amount of weight for their size.
