Title: F-2B plus Keyboard equals ?!?!
Post by: sacredheartattack on January 07, 2009, 07:28:54 AM
So I am toiling with using a keyboard with my bass rig. I would use channel 1 of my F-2B for my Jazz Bass, and channel 2 for the keyboard (for synth parts) with the mix output going to my amp.
I have heard two things that I can not really confirm as of right now and maybe someone here knows a bit more about it...

1. The output of the F-2B is a bit hotter than typical line level. Anyone know the specifics of that output? (i.e. dbv, impedance, etc.)

2. I also understand that most keyboards are too damn hot for the pre's input. Is this also true? I figure a line level db pad would be appropriate, but again I would need to know numbers for the unit. Input impedance and level and all that fun stuff...

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to use this thing to it's full potential, and being the mad scientist I like to pretend I am these pieces of info will help me.

F-2B output level is line level 1 V RMS.
Output impedance: A&B=

Hey THANKYOU!!!! Each input is different?! Crazy! Why is that? Also keep in mind this F-2B is like 40+ years old. I will get a serial number off of it later to find out when it was made.

Each channel has two inputs.  Mica's information refers to input 1 and input 2 on each channel.

Also, from the F-2B page (http://www.alembic.com/prod/f2b.html); Plugging into Jack 1 alone gives full sensitivity, while Jack 2 alone is attenuated 6 dB.
