Dreaming of a bass I would really love to have made would be a 5 string Rogue in Transparent Black not real dark like the Newsted style black finish with a quilted maple top. Elan style headstock.
The unique feature would be a maple fretboard with Black MOP oval inlays. Gold hardware. I have never seen a Alembic with a maple fretboard yet.
Neck would be multilaminate maple and purple heart with a satin clear finish.
Red LEDs of course and I think signature electronics unless I could afford the series II upgrade.
Does anyone here do photoshop mockups. I am curious as how this would look...

Alembic doesn't do Maple fretboards. Mica's posted the reasons before. If I run across the thread, I'll post a link.

Found it (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=3070). Val addresses the question near the top of this long thread, but Susan gives the definitive answer much further in.

Here is the John Lodge bass Susan talks about:

Thanks Flip!

If maple is out of the question what about a different hardwood. I have even heard of Albino Rosewood. Maybe African White Limba or a light colored Koa fretboard?
Or is a lightly colored fretboard completely out of the question?

They've done at least one bass with a Pink Ivory fretboard - that's pretty light in colour.

Here's a Tribute with the Pink Ivory fretboard:
