I went to Washington Music to talk witha manager about pricing a custom build for SI based on the 6 string custom SII from the 1995 era catalog. What is that body style called?
-
This one from the 89 catalogue?

I guess you can call it the JOS signature :-) Click here (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=8062)

That is it. I remember seeing a flamed Maple bass with the same shape for sale some years ago but I cannot remember the name of the body style
-
Is this the same kind of bass

I believe that is the Rogue body style setup to accomadate the six string Series configuration.

Well, the Rogue II shape is a variation on the standard Rogue shape to accomodate Series electronics, like on Gnawthnar (http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_gwathnar.html target=_blank).
But indeed the How our body shapes evolved (http://www.alembic.com/family/history_bodyshapes.html target=_blank) page suggests that the regular Rogue shape derives from that particular Series bass:
quote:To make a Rogue, merge an Essence into the Europa, and then stretch the horn to match the length of the 6-string custom Series II in the 1990 brochure. Everyone loved that shape, but it was really quite enormous. The Rogue captures the feeling of that bass, but is a much more manageable size.

Love the JOS body.
