Title: Vibrato on alembics?
Post by: superlow on April 10, 2013, 03:54:49 AM
hello everybody.
I dream of having a bigsby-like vibrato on my mark king.
I think i've already seen one on john entwistle alembic.
Is that right? Is it possible?
Thanx.

There's a few pics of Alembics with tremelos in this (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=3491) old thread.
Stanley Clarke had the first one I ever saw on the cover of his 'I wanna play for you' album. Cuple of pics of it here (http://empireguitarsri.com/top-ten-historical-basses-of-legendary-players/attachment/5)

All I can tell you is that every tremolo we've ever installed on a bass has come off in later years. There's just no way to know if you will want it there in 10 years, but it's fun to experiment.

Maybe plan on a decorative inlay to disguise the former tremolo location if it ever comes to that.

ok thank you mica. It seems that you have doubt on this!!
If I put one, alembic will do it, nobody else.
well, if you're ok!!
