Here's the details for the serial number you provided.  
 
top: Flame Maple
accent: Purpleheart and Maple pinstripes
body: Mahogany
neck: Maple with Walnut pinstripes, 34 long scale
fingerboard: Ebony with pearloid oval inlays
truss rod cover: Brass, engraved Special Edition 38 of 60
backplate: Brass
finish: Polyurethane, satin natural (very thin)
pickups: MXY
controls: volume, pan, bass, treble
birthday: July 29, 1998
originally made for: Guitar Center
 
If the bass you're looking at matches the above description, chances are it's the real thing. A picture would help to more confidently identify the bass.
