Hi
I have just received my very first Alembic!
Could you let me know the history and construction as no papers were available.
The serial number reads as 09K12241 USA but the first zero could well be the top of a nine and the lower part has not been made properly.

The first two digits are the year of manufacture followed by an alphabetic model code and then the serial number. I suspect the full serial is 99K12241. This would make the bass as manufactured in 1999 and fits with the serial number of 12241.

Thanks Keith
I thought that would be the case.

Hi Derek, welcome to the board! We have a few other members in Australia as well. Congrats on a very nice looking Essence! As you've already alluded to in the subject line, the electronics are Europa. The top looks to me like Walnut; and my guess would be a Mahogany body, although it's really hard to tell from the picture. I can't tell which headstock that is from this angle. The shop is a bit shorthanded at the moment, so it may be a little while before the next batch of serial number searches is made. Enjoy!

Thanks for the assistance. I understand the situation regarding serial number searches . I am not in a rush, so whenever it is provided will be good.
I have managed a couple more photos of body and headstock. I suspect the body top is flamed Mahogony but headstock I have no idea. Could you please let me know what you think?

The photos didn't appear. I suspect they were too big. I'll try again!

Welcome to the club Derek.
Very nice bass?

Very nice. I like the Europa headstock on that bass.
I think it looks like a Mahogany body followed by a maple accent and a walnut top. I could very well be wrong, but that top sure looks like a nice walnut to me.
Either way, it's lovely.
