Post by: squirefan01 on June 20, 2007, 05:42:10 PM
I just bought this used '99 Essence bass.  I love it!  I would like the history of the bass and also would like some tutorial info about the electronics controls.

Thanks!

Thanks!  This Essence does have a Q-Switch, and I was also wondering how that worked.

Hi Greg; congrats and welcome!

Here (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=280) is a description of Spoiler controls.  You can read about the Q switch there; the same thing will apply to how the Q switch will work with the filter on your Essence.

In the auction, this bass was listed as haveing Europa-style electronics. I did read up on those here.  I would be interested in thoughts about the Europa vs. Essence electronics setups.

This bass also has THG Bocate knobs, which are really nice.  Not sure if these would have been installed at the factory or not.

Greg,
If it has Europa style electronics, it should have a Q switch as well as 2 other switches (bass/treble quick change switches).

Can you post a picture?

EDIT: I just saw your picture in the Showcase- Europa it is- if you go to the FAQ section you'll find details on the Europa electronics.

Cool top BTW- I agree with you about the grain coming out of the neck pickup- very cool.

Thanks Mica!  Congratulations again on your new addition to the family.

I am wondering what the difference is between set neck and through body neck.  Is there any?

Thanks Mica, and congrats again.

This bass must have a through body neck though, right?  It sure looks like it does.  Did they make any Essence basses with set necks?

It's a through body neck, sorry about the typo.
