It will not come as a surprise to those who like to browse the Factory To Customer threads here at the Club that this particular build will be a Featured Custom at the Alembic home page. No sirree! Lots of gorgeous wood on display, an iconic shape and a great story to boot.
Club members get a sneak preview here (http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_stella.html target=_blank) before it's posted to the main Alembic site.
Congrats John!

Very cool! The combination of concept, thought and details make this an incredible instrument.

What a beautiful guitar John! The wood choice and features are stupendous and so well executed ;) Congratulations, Enjoy, and Play it Healthy!

I love this guitar! So much off the scale cool stuff, yet it all works together beautifully.
-
WOW! That is exquisite! The woods are absolutely gorgeous! Enjoy in good health, John.

What Dave said..... Stunningly beautiful.
I do like that body style more on guitar than bass I have to say.
-
stunning looks!!!
-
As usual, an incredible guitar, enjoy it John

Congrats John. I've followed your build since I saw it 'in the flesh' and just knew it would be CotM.

Thanks everyone: I am truly honored and humbled. I know everyone likes pics; so here's some more! Ebony and purpleheart knobs - fluted just like stock knobs.

Who did the knobs? What size are they (top hat or collet knob size)? I like what I see and would consider getting a set for my Series and maybe fretless.

David King, top hat.

Wow, what a stunning instrument. So many cool details (for a minute I thought to myself hey, this is a Series II, where's the humcanceller and then realized it had a piece of the book matched wood!). Love the logo, too. And the wood, well, I'm speechless at its beauty.

Great looking guitar
-
Excellent in every way ! Congratulations !
-
Thanks for the pictures of the knobs - love the purpleheart indicators! Congratulations on a spectacular instrument, John.
-
Very nice.
The burl, the modified logo and those knobs!
Winner!

Fabulous, simply fabulous.
+1 on all of the comments above - plus the Skyway trem looks like it was made just for it.
Is it performing as expected?
-
Is it performing as expected? No, it's not. It has surpassed my expectations in every regard. I expected it to be like my series I from the late '70s. As nice as that guitar was, EVERYTHING is way better. The quality of the luthiery is really amazing, the electronics sound better than my fond memories, touching it is sensual, and it seems to know what I want musically. And, to answer your specific question about the trem: I've had everything (except a Floyd, I don't do dive bombs) and it responds as an integral part of my musical concept. I've had really expensive trems that felt 'disconnected' and non-musical; not the Skyway, it's my all time favorite.

Kewl.
+1 on current Alembic build quality and electronics performance exceeding expectations.
And your endorsement of the Skyway is the final push over the cliff for my decision to use one on my next Alembic guitar project.

Awesome!!!

Those are inspiring pictures jzstephan. I may have a go myself at some dramatic photography with my Series I dragon.

All I can say is WOW. That is such a cool guitar. And I'm a big fan of Stellaluna too. It was a favorite bedtime book for my kids. We have several bats hanging around the house. But a bat in burl buckeye is too cool!
