Greetings.  My uncle gave me this bass several years ago and I'm interested to know more about it.

Interestingly, I stumbled across this post for what seems like a close relative of my instrument:

I thought I'd upload a photo to go with the serial number...

That's a great picture of a very nice bass!  The reflection at the bottom is a nice touch!

Thanks, though the bass hardly needs the spiffy reflection to look beautiful.  I'm looking forward to finding out more about this bass.  Any guesses on the kind of wood?

My money is on maple neck, mahogany body & zebrawood top, though it's hard to tell on the body from this shot.  Nice uncle! If he should feel the need to adopt another nephew.....
Welcome to the board.

Peter

My guess would be the same as Peter's on the woods.  As you have probably already figured out, it's a Persuader, and the controls are Volume, Volume, and Low Pass Filter.

Thanks Dave... Yeah, I figured out the model and controls a while ago -- though I'm still so amazed by how many different tones that filter knob provides.

Are there no details available on my bass?  I posted this a long time before many others who have gotten a reply.  If there is no info available, please let me know so I can stop checking this page.

Thanks!

You are one lucky nephew zdoob!!!
From what I have read here Persuaders are very versatile basses..well it has got to be hasn't it, it's an Alembic
Well done on a great gift
Now play, remember a bass is for life and not just for Christmas!

Zac; her searches are not necessarily done by chronological order of posted request.  As I understand it, she does batches based on serial numbers that are likely to be found in the same location.  Thus it's not unusual for newer requests to get done before older requests.

Here's the details I found in the instrument file:

top: Zebrawood
body: Mahogany
through body neck: 3-piece Maple, 32 medium scale
fingerboard: Ebony with pearloid inlays
birthday: November 9, 1985
originally made for: Manny's Music

The original owner was from New York. There's no other ownership or repair history.

I had this exact bass, which I bought new in 1987 and stupidly sold in San Francisco in 1997. I've been loosing sleep over that ever since. I'd be happy to trade you my 2006 Alembic Orion for this, should you be so inclined. Doesn't sound like you are looking for a bass though. Just a thought.
