Hello everybody. I'd like to know details of this bass which is not to me but to one of the greatest french bassists. I think that it has born in 1974, isn't it? from what kind of woods is it made? Thank you.
-
Bonjour, Christophe,
and welcome to this forum. I hope you enjoy the great cameraderie around here. Who is the bassist you mentioned, I'd really like to know. I'm glad your daughter also already appreciates Alembic
glad to have you here, Christian

Thank you Christian. Are you French too? This bassist is Francis Darizcuren. He was playing the bass for TV in the 60's and 70's and is still playing as a session bassist. He has a Basse Institut near Paris. He also was redactor for Bass Magazine. He made me discover the Alembic world. Bye!!!!!!!!!!

Christophe,
Welcome to the discussion board...I know I'm not the only one who would love to see some pictures of your early Alembic.
I'll have to see if I can find some film of the older TV shows with Francis playing.
take care,
kris

Here is a picture of LSB #O86 and #025-75. F.Darizcuren bought the fretted 025-75 in London and this bass can be an european serie bass. #086 comes from Washington and is a US serie.

If you want another photos of Francis you can go on his website. Christophe MEYER

Hi Christophe,
Thank you for the great pictures !
I think about No. 086.(right side on the picture)
1: Upper horn is 1974 style.
2: Serial No. of 1974 are around 40 to 130.
3: Serial No. 84 in showcasesection (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=8518) and 86(It was appeared on eBay) are SSB in my archives.
Because I think the bass is No.85.
or SSB No. 86 was actual No.85.

Wow. That's almost as stunning as Bucky's bass. Who ended up with that one?
-
Mr DARIZCUREN just knows that the end of the SN is 086. But is this an AC, AE or std serie model? Could someone tell me what is the top wood? I would say Lacewood; maybe am I wrong? Best regards to all the great family of Alembic world. C.MEYER

It's my opinion of serial No. from my archives.
Following digit stamps are confused.
No.0 : c,o(alphabet), 6,8,9(double stamped)
No.3 : 8
No.5 : 6
Serial No. with extra letter. (following are in my archives)
A--- : 1974 (Dela'217s A013), 1975(unusual omega A051)
AC--- : 1975(AC025, AC033), 1976(AC070, JimmyJ's AC418)
AE--- : 1976(AE013 t0 016 for YAMAHA, AE069, AE082, AE40?)
o-- : 1974(o13 as Smithsonian bass, o18)
AC418 and AE40? are added AE,AC on regular serial No.
I think these were started to build as regular, then added stamp when exported it.
Other instruments were prepared for specific.
In this case, I confused the picture.
Frettless on left side is LSB #O86 and Fretted old style is #025-75, all right ?
If so, older bass(right side) is 75 o25 that I think.
Very few 75's standard body had round upper horn.(I said 74 style in my last post)
No possibility as 72'025, AC025(double neck) and AE025(1976).
Now, #086,
Body and PUs are late 1975 style.
Single trussrod featured before 1977(serial No. arround 650).
Regular serial No.86 is 1974.
Because, 1976 AC or AE086, or 1975 o86 are compatible for this case.
I wish Mica will suggest about this.
Sorry for your confusion due to my representation.
I wrote with dictionaly but difficult.

Lots of thanks Eiji.I've understood all you've written. I'm french and try to write clearly in English too when I'm on this american website. I don't know if I make too much errors but if I've got answers to my questions I know that I'm understood. AC is for Canada; AE is for Europe; WHAT ARE A--- AND o--- for ?
-
OOPS sorry. #086 IS THE DEFRETTED MODEL AT THE LEFT OF THE PICTURE AND #025-75 IS THE RIGHT ONE.

Hee hee!! I love the world wide web!

Salut Christope!
Fais gaffe mon pote!!

A BIENTOT TRES CHER!!! CHRISTOPHE MEYER
-
Salut Christophe.
Desole! Je croyais qu'il allait les vendre.
tant pis pour toi Non??
gardes le contact
George
You speak English very well!!
-
Bonjour Georges.

My research hasn't brought me either of these files, unless 086 is from the AE or AC series, which I think may be possible since it has a preceding 0 in front of the number. Eiji has already suggested this with his research.
I have the file file for AE76-086, where the AE in the record is sort of squished in, looks like it was added later to me, and may not be on the bass if that's the case (so confusing!). Here's what AE76-086 record says:
top and back: Purpleheart
body: Koa
through-body neck: Maple and Purpleheart, 34 long scale
fingerboard: Rosewood with mother of pearl oval inlays
peghead veneers: Padouk (Vermilion)
If we could find out the 3-digit number written on the preamp card inside the bass, or on one of the pots, we can confirm the identity of this bass.
I could not find any record for 025 in AC or AE sequence.
-
Mica, my doubleneck should be AC-025. I have it written two ways: #75-025AC is the way it's written on a letter to the previous owner, and the headstocks are stamped AC 025 & 75-025.

Hello Mica. Thank you for your answer. I think that AE76-086 must be the defretted bass of Francis; and I will ask him this 3-digit number. You say Purpleheart top and back. On the photo above it seems more red than purple, is it because of all this years? or maybe a rare piece of Purpleheart...?

Hi Christophe.
Encore moi.
I own Serie 1 AE 76 069!
She is from March 31 1976, so, as the serial numbers are so close, it would seem that Dariz's bass is definitely a 1976 model, probably made 2 or 3 months after mine.
That would make her around Mai 1976.
George
-
AE 76-086 is older than me(4 months)!!!!! What is your AE 76-069 looking like? Christophe
-
Hi Christophe.
Look in my profile for a picture.
I have more at home if you want to see them

Hello George. Your bass is beautiful, and its( sorry, her.... I saw you were talking about your bass like if it was a woman) hardshell case too. Denny is between Glasgow and Rosyth by the non-toll road, isn't it???? I've gone 2 times in Glasgow to unload and reload my lorry: I'm lorry driver in Norbert Dentressangle, you know, the reds....!!! Have a nice day my friend and like the Brian May arrangement God save the Queen!!!!!
......I know, I know, you are Scottish...
-
Hi Christophe.
Thankyou for the kind words about my bass!
Yes Denny is a small town about 30Km from Glasgow
I know little Norbert from the time I used to drive lorries for Giraud in France. I used to live in Department 93 near Bobigny!
If you come back to Scotland, send me an E Mail, and I'll meet you.
Glad to see you realise the difference between Scotland and England!
Take care my friend
George
-
Hello George. OK, if I come back in Scotland I'll send you a e-mail and that will be an honour to meet you. Question, I know that noone of the band was playing an Alembic, but do you love Queen? (before Freddie Mercury's death)
-
Brilliant!!
I saw them at Wembley in Londres in 1985 at the LIVE AID concert.
I lived in london for 14 years
