My Alembic Bass (970W10598USA) is such a great instrument! I'd love to hear some details about it. I think it's an Orion? But I'm even not sure about that... Thank you for some information!

Welcome Adrian,

That is an Orion- looks to be a nice flame maple top with a Mahogany body.  Looks like standard Orion electronics (volume, pan, bass, treble).

I really like the darker spots in that maple top- sharp looking bass!

Hi Adrian,

Here's the details from the instrument file:

top: Flame Maple
accent: Purpleheart pinstripe
body: Mahogany
neck: 3-piece Maple
scale: 34 long
fingerboard: Ebony
pickups: Alembic MXY
controls: volume, pan, bass, treble
output: mono
birthday: April 3, 1997
originally made for: Kenman Company

I'm pretty sure it didn't leave here with the dark spots on it, so I'm going to take a guess about them. The original finish is a very thin polyurethane, with almost an oil-look. I think at some point between April 2, 1997 and the day you purchased it, that some creative person tried to stain the bass.

Is the texture or feel at the dark spots any different from the rest of the bass?

Hi mica

Thanks you very much for the details!
Now I can celebrate the birthdays with my alembic :-)
The darker spots don't feel any different. Anyway, I like them.
