Title: (x) 97W10927 97 Epic 5-string Special Edition
Post by: rocksoldier1000 on May 11, 2010, 03:36:26 PM
Greetings!  I'm an Alembic Special Edition owner wishing to know more about my bass.  Any chance I can get some help?  The serial number is: 97W10927 (or at least that's what's printed on a plate on the body).  Thanks, and much obliged for the help!
Any information as to woods, special features, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Graham,

Here's what I found in the instrument file:

WLB5SE Epic 5-string Special Edition
top: Quilted Maple
accent: Maple
body: Mahogany
body shape: Epic
neck: 5-piece Maple with 4 Walnut pinstripes
scale: 34 long
peghead shape: Cone
pickups: MXY56
controls: Epic volume, pan, bass, treble, mono output
originally made for: Guitar Center
birthday: August 1, 1997

This was part of a special edition for Guitar Center's anniversary. The truss rod cover is engraved with the serial number and the position in the limited edition run.

At the time this bass was made, Epics were not generally available in Quilted Maple, and the plates were usually plastic, but on this model they were all brass.
