Title: (x) 84D3204 Distillate
Post by: pauldo on January 10, 2010, 05:24:09 PM
I bought this from Ralph Hanzel's music on Greenfield Ave. in Milwaukee around 1985.

I do not believe that there was any previous owner.

Secret message under the neck pickup looks like 664 c - any idea what it means?

Hi Paul,

Here's the details from the instrument file:

top: Zebrawood
body: Mahogany
neck: 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart
scale: 32 medium
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: Pearloid (plastic) ovals
peghead veneers: Zebrawood
originally made for: Ralph Hanzel's, WI
birthday: June 20, 1984

There's a note on the original sales order to Hanzel's that the bass was one we took to a NAMM show. Jim from Bag End was a sales rep for us once upon a time, and from the sales order, it looks like he sold the bass to Hanzel's. Wacky, huh?

There's another notation in the file when you registered the bass with me in 1997.

664c is the work order number. It's how we track the instrument before the serial number is issued.

sweet!
If our Gathering for June comes to fruition I'll have to ask Jim if he recognizes the bass.

Thank YOU, Mica
