Hi Mica, I'm thrilled to have just purchased 77-848, a 1977 Series I with a graphite neck. I'd like to get its history. It's the bass in this thread.

Thanks, and happy holidays,

Hi Steve,
Sorry, I got nothing for you - can't find the file. I do check the (u) marked threads whenever we find a misfiled file, so there's a chance I may still be able to find details out for you in the future.

Thanks for checking, Mica. For Alembic's records, 77-848 is a short scale, Stanley Clarke body style Series I with a graphite neck (which features red LED dots on the side, cool and more useful than I expected). It was custom built for forum member lstock, per the original post on this thread. I bought it from him last year.
A neck crack near the headstock was repaired by Alembic long ago, lstock said. It's visible but rock-solid and affects nothing.
I still can't believe it's real; it's like Christmas morning every time. I'm a Phil Lesh freak (surprise), and it's instant Wall of Sound when I plug it in.
Sounds unbelievable, even with original electronics, and just too pretty. Some think graphic neck instruments sound cold or sterile, but it's clarity to me. I'm a Modulus freak as well, so this is a dream come true.
You folks are magicians; your long-term quest for THE bass sound has given us all much pleasure. Happy holidays, Steve

What strings do you have on it?
I'd love to see a good picture of the back, too!
Alembic with graphite necks are very cool. I first played one in Boston at a short-lived bass shop on Boylston St. in the 70s. At the time I didn't know enough about them to realize how awesome they were.

Wow, stunning! Play it joyfully and in good health!!!

Cool old vibe axe. Very unusual tailpiece for an Alembic. Enjoy it, Steve!
