This bass belongs to my brother. Please send any info you have, I am going to attempt some (hopefully minor)electronic repairs for him.
Thanks

Hi
Don't forget to do a search on this board - you'll find a treasure trove of info about the electronics (and minor repairs). Also, post some pictures because, 1. we love looking at all kinds of Alembics, and, 2. somebody (more capable than me) will be able to give you tips on how to do your repair.
Regards,
Ed

Thanks I will do that.

Okay I finally figured out the way to get pics to the right size so I will take some more and post them soon.

Hi Bob,
It looks like the 5 pin jack is either removed or covered. This connector is to send the signal from both pickups as well as powering the Bass.
The Bass can work with a modified 1/4 cable and 2 9v batteries but using the 5 pin and external power supply is preferred.

Good Luck!

Is that body unusual?
-
I don't know if it is unusual or not. Maybe somebody else more knowledgeable could comment on that.
-
Posting some pics of the electronics as they are currently.I am needing to know which wire to which post and I have a new 5 pin connector, a new 1/4 inch connector and 1 new switch to install.
-
My bad... I guess it's just a Small Standard body Series bass, but on the mobile it looked oddly oblong.
Very cool old classic Alembic your brother has there stickid. I would suggest calling Mica after the holiday to draw her attention to your post... looks like your 5-pin is there, just unfastened.

Where are you located? This looks like an easy fix that a competent repair person could do pretty quickly, assuming there aren't other issues lurking in there. Maybe someone here can offer ideas about a good repair person in your area.
Very nice bass!

I am in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.I have a few new parts to replace the 5 pin and the 1/4 inch jack.

Here's what was in the file:
top: Schedua
back: Schedua
body: Mahogany
neck: 5-piece Maple and Purpleheart
scale: 30.75 short
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: mother of pearl ovals
peghead veneers: Padouk (Vermilion)
originally made for: Rothchild
birthday: August 11, 1977
Original owner was in Manitoba as well, they purchased from Stars Guitars in San Francisco.
There is a copy of a repair order where we replaced the treble (bridge) pickup, made a truss rod cover, refret, truss rod adjustment, backplate refit.
Looks like a replacement circuit card was sent at one point. Sadly, neither order contained the YEAR! So I don't know when any of this happened, other than it was probably within a couple of years from the time the bass was built because of the forms that were used.

Yes that original owner is my brother and I am sitting here talking with him, he still owns the bass. However, there was a problem with the neck and it was apparently not adequately addressed because the neck was actually twisted and he ended up (after you had done some repairs at your shop) having to take it to a reputable luthier here to try and have the original problem resolved. I am hoping that with the great reputation you have as company that you will now consider addressing the original concern as this is a very early example of your great instruments and should be the best it can be.
Thank you for the information you provided as it shows that he did contact you early about this issue and that you did respond but the original issue still exists.
I appreciate that you have the records and that you are responsive to people.
Thaks Mica and I look forward to hearing from you.

We'll need to see the bass in person to make any determination. I have emailed you some packing instructions.
