Bought this bass! Have always wanted an Alembic... and it plays and sounds great! I know you're all in the midst of Holiday Madness, so I'll be patient regarding info.... by the way, I used to live in Santa Rosa in the '70's, but now reside in the sunny clime of Kailua, Hi.... Happy Holidays, and Aloha!

Welcome to the Club Ian

It takes some time for the Alembic staff to comb through their files to find info on past builds.

Please resubmit your pictures so we can see your baby

The third picture was included with my bass, and was an old version... don't know if it left the factory that way or not, but it now has the Epic design...

The picture above shows how the headstock was cut, and Mahogany blocks were glued on and shaped to make the Epic shape... the last owner works at Hipshot, hence the de-tuner. Wasted on the B-string, just doesn't sound like much when de-tuned to A...

Am still wondering about the "Birthday" date on my Epic, and any other info about it, as it seems to have a different EQ system. And, did it start life with a more common looking headstock (one of the pictures shows an atypical headstock, before it was changed to look like an Alembic...)?

Hi Fivebass,  or high five Bass!  :D

You have great patience.  The bass was built in 1994.  That is all I know.
Very interesting with the headstock modification.

Looks like this was lost back in 2012 - but asked again in 2017 (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=22804.msg229106;topicseen#msg229106).

Here's a copy of what I posted thereFrom the file this is a normal everyday Epic bass.

top: Flame Maple
accent: Purpleheart pinstripe
body: Mahogany
neck: 5-piece Maple, lefthanded
scale: 34" long
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: none
body shape: Epic
peghead shape: Cone
pickups: Alembic MXY56
controls: "Epic" volume, pan, bass, treble, mono output
originally made for: Music Unlimited, CA
birthday: not recorded, but late Feb, 1994

There's nothing about repairs or modifications. There's no previous registered owners.
The electronics look like they've swapped out the bass and treble controls for a filter/Q-switch option (note the large dress washer). Looks like they were really worried about the filter rotating inside the cavity, is that a glop of silicone in there? Also the pickup screws are not original.

Looks happy in its new home!
