Title: F1-X RF Interference
Post by: wideload on November 17, 2005, 05:00:36 PM
My Rogue has been upgraded with the latest shielding protocols, but my preamp is picking up a local (comatose-listening) radio station. Not through my amp, but through the line out. This is with no bass connected, no wireless connected. Most noticable with a post send (I want to hear the F1-X in my in-ears!), better when I iso the ground. However, I do get a little...uh...dirt through the post if its up too much. Does anyone have an idea I can try?  Thanks!

The first thing I can think of is to make sure you are using a well shielded cable for your line out.

Hey Larry,

Is the station AM or FM? Does the radio reception get louder and softer with the volume control (does it go away when the volume is all the way down)?

Have you tried the  jack excercising (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=243) procedure? Since you're near the coast, you might have some corrosion.

Lastly, check the screws holding the F-1X together. Everything should be nice and snug with no gaps. Inspect the screws and make sure there isn't any corrosion there either.

Let me know what you find out.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I hadn't gotten back because this rig is at church, not at home. Anyway...

The problem left on its own, perhaps for better winter weather. I have left the ground iso flipped, but the radio problem that plagued me for 3 weeks is just gone. I am not going to ask where it went, I just hope it stays there!
