Hey everyone,
I've got a split Alembic pickup in a 83 Squire p bass and she sounds awesome. The only problem I'm having is when I turn the tone knob all the way I'm lots of hum.
I didn't route the body to place the battery. The battery is sitting right under the volume knob with the attached electronics. Aside from me routing for the battery is there something I can wrap the battery in to get rid of the hum?
Thanks,

Is the electronics cavity and the underside of the pickguard shielded?
-
Yes it is.
-
Is the hum still the same when you use a different cable?
-
What about sheilding the whole cavity?
I had a similar problem with my old Squier P Bass(same year actually) when I installed P/J set, I routed the cavity larherr to take the battery and cut a hol at the back for easy access.
Shielding the inside did the trick.

I can use any cable and it's still there.
Shielding might do it. copper or that spray?
I really didn't want to route the body.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for the tips.
Paul

If you're just doing this one bass, the copper (http://tinyurl.com/ndt9o) is probably less expensive.
