Title: Alembic P bass pickup and controls question
Post by: gtrguy on March 24, 2009, 12:01:10 PM
I have an Alembic P bass pickup and controls. The tone knob keeps turning all the way around. It has a place where I feel a 'stop' but you can prettly easily keep turning it past that. Is this normal? I have not ever installed it on a bass yet to test it.

Thanks,
Dave

If it is the knob then it needs securing. If it is the shaft of the potentiometer that's revolving, you need to replace the pot.

You will have to replace the potentiometer.
I had a Jazz bass with the activators and I had the same problem when my bass slipped off it's strap and fell on it's front. The volume pot still worked but the stop point on it was broken.

Uh no, both pots don't stop. They feel more like there is a detent than a stop and just keep turning. Will they still work this way?

It is possible that it will work because my potentiometer still worked although it kept turning and had that stop point even though the bass was dropped on the potentiometer. You will just have to try it and see, then decide if you want to purchase a pot. Depending on how old the potentiometer is you might not be able to purchase 1 pot.
