Title: Question about a custom case.

Hi all,
 
I own a 2005 Sycamore Mark King Balance K Omega 4 string. The G&G case that came with it has served me fine since 2005 because I never had any gigs and the bass lived in a closet. Earlier this year I played 1 gig.  The end result was both front latches broken and the hinges in the back are shot as well. Nothing was treated roughly (seriously I love my Alembic) but needless to say I need a new case for my alembic.
 
I also own an ernie ball sterling and I love the case it came with. I think it's made by skg but of course the shape of the alembic means it won't fit.
 
I don't want a big ata flight case. I think something like the ernie ball case would be fine.
 
Any ideas? Where could I get a replacement case that would work? Or get a custom one made? (picking up another G&G is out of the question)

What about going to a flight case manufacturer and getting one made, if requested they will take the liner out and place it in the new one.
My case is looking worn but I ain't concerned as it has done it's job protecting my investment SO when it self destructs I amd doing the above.

Calton. I have a custom purple case they made for my '67 Starfire which has done thousands of miles in a trailer with no real suspension. I can't imagine anything less than a locomotive running it over being able to damage the bass.

They do have a long lead time, but see if they have any cases already in their files for your instrument.

I can second Calton Cases.  I have two, one for Woody, my custom Further, and one for my Martin.  Just about the same size as a standard wood case.   I've flown with both with no worries.  A big advantage over standard Anvil type cases is that a Calton is small enough that they've let me carry it on the airplane on several occasions, but if they don't, it's as strong or stronger than an Anvil so it can ride in baggage without risking your instrument.  Not cheap. but worth it.

I like the Calton cases too. The last time I checked with Calton (maybe near to a year ago), they didn't have a form long enough for many of our designs. Getting a custom mold made is possible, but quite expensive. I suppose if there was enough interested for such a case, we could get the mold made (~5K as I recall). Probably would need to make it for a Standard Point 6-string and have the interiors modified for fewer strings and Balance K variants.
