Over the years, the fingerboard will accumulate finger oil and 'gunk'. What do you use to clean that off? There are posts on oiling the fretboard, but I don't see anything on cleaning.
Is the tailpiece plated on an 81 Distillate?
Thanks!

Terry:
I use pure lemon oil for both for oiling and cleaning. I use a piece of aquarium filter material that is sort of like a scrubby, but any plastic sponge-like thing made for non-stick pans (i.e. not very abrasive) will work fine. I put lemon oil on the board, rub it with the scrubby, and wipe it off. It gets rid of finger grunge very effectively. Once clean I'll dab a little more oil on, wait about 15 minutes, then wipe off any that hasn't been absorbed. If the board hasn't been oiled in a while, it will really suck up the oil, often in less than a minute. If that's the case, I put on more oil and keep repeating until the oil stops being sucked up right away.

Bill, Thanks much. I did just what you said except using a paper towel. The lemon oil removed the gunk.
