My 73 series one seems like it has something loose moving around in the wing opposite of the controlcavity. Could this be the humcancelling dummy pickup that has come loose and is dancing around in there.?
-
The humcanceller is the one between the main pick ups, could be a loose battery if there is a compartment on the reverse side.
-
In the compartment between the two pickups I have two batteries, so no humcanceller there. My series bass is a very early serialnumber.

If your bass is a 1973 then the hum canceller should be mounted in a pocket under the tailpiece. There is nothing really holding it in there so that may be what you are hearing knocking around.
If you take off the back plate you can follow the wire to the canceller under the tailpiece.

You mean under the bridge right.? Because there's nothing under the tailpiece..
