Hi,
I have a four string Orion bass. Yesterday the E string started buzzing on the 5th and 7th frets, never did that before. I couldn't figure out what was causing it, the frets look fine and not worn that much, the string (Pyramid flat .105) is only about a month old and looks fine as well (not worn out). So, I changed the the string to a Pyramid flat .100 and the buzz has stopped. Just wondering if anyone might have a thought on why the .105 buzzes and not the slightly lighter guage .100 string.
Thanks!

If your setup has the neck fairly straight and low action the increased diameter of the string could be just enough to interfere with the frets. Anytime I change the string type or gauge on my guitars and basses I always go through a setup procedure to account for the changes the strings introduce. This is also the time of the year I start into my seasonal adjustments due to the increase in humidity that starts to reswell the wood in the neck.

Keith,
Thanks very much for your comments. I'll work on the set up to see what effects that has.
Thanks,
Rob
